South Africa has over 5 million children up to the age of four, and another 6 million between the ages of five and nine. These children are South Africa’s future. They are going to head up homes, communities and businesses in the years ahead. Educational research has shown that a child’s brain is already developed 80% by the age of four and that they learn their most crucial life lessons and values in the early years of their lives. Impact kids ensures that two hundred (200) children of Kwaggafontein and Kromdraai are receiving the best possible pre-school education to equip them to lead fulfilling lives and that pre-school teaching standards are being maintained across the board.

Golang Education

Over the years we have realized that the greatest impact on a child’s life happens before he/she turns 7 years of age and that if we want to holistically nurture and develop children into the best person, we have to start working at a very young age. This is how the need for a top-quality pre-school, within walking distance, in Zandspruit, was identified. Our Pre-School Programme has been running for nine years and we have 60 pre-schoolers, being taught by three qualified teachers in three groups.

Community Care:

Emthonjeni strongly believes in holistically caring for the communities we so deeply love; by enlisting the help of the greater community, we offer them the opportunity to be a part of something that is for the greater good of all.

About the Community Food Gardens / Vegetable Gardens:

The Community Food Gardens at Emthonjeni is our chosen way of giving back to the community. CMH Kempster Ford Randburg sponsored the upgraded fencing around the Vegetable Gardens for a safe and secure future for this entrepreneurial endeavour for the community. The objective of these gardens is to improve the nutritional status of vulnerable people, supply vegetables to 3 nutritional kitchens, provide food for self-consumption and generate income for these individuals. At Emthonjeni we have set aside land for sustainable vegetable gardens. Senior citizens from Zandspruit Informal Settlement are given the necessary training, seeds and tools to successfully plant their gardens. We consider this vegetable garden to be an extremely beneficial initiative as it addresses the very real and practical nutritional needs of the aged. Production of New Ford Ranger Commences in South Africa

• First new Ford Ranger production models emerge from Silverton Assembly Plant
• Result of over R3-billion investment and extensive upgrades at Ford's local operations
• New Ranger and first-ever Ranger Raptor destined for markets in Africa, Europe and Middle East

PRETORIA, South Africa, 11 February 2019 - Ford's Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria has officially commenced production of the new Ford Ranger, bringing a raft of product upgrades and refinements to one of South Africa's best-selling vehicles and export models.

Selected range-topping models, including the Ranger Raptor, will be powered by the all-new 2.0 Bi-Turbo diesel engine assembled at Ford's Struandale Engine Plant in Port Elizabeth. This unit produces 157kW and 500Nm of torque - up by 10kW and 30Nm compared with the current 3.2 TDCi - and delivers up to a nine percent improvement in fuel efficiency when combined with the advanced new 10-speed automatic transmission.

Certain derivatives will feature a 2.0 Single Turbo version of this engine, producing 132kW and 420Nm of torque, mated to the same 10-speed transmission. Various other models in the line-up will retain the proven 2.2 and 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engines and existing gearbox options - thus giving customers the widest choice yet in this category. As usual, the line-up includes Single Cab, Super Cab and Double Cab body styles to suit customer requirements.

Along with freshened design cues, range-topping Ranger models will raise the bar once again with industry-defining safety features on the Wildtrak such as Pre-Collision Assist and Active Park Assist. SYNC 3® with Navigation remains one of the Ranger's technology highlights as a fully featured infotainment system with intuitive voice control.

Following the launch of the 'standard' new Ford Ranger models, the attention will be shifted to the locally assembled Ranger Raptor that is set to create an entirely new segment in the pickup market when it makes its eagerly anticipated debut.

Some of the defining features of the Ranger Raptor include Position Sensitive Damping (PSD) shock absorbers exclusively manufactured by FOX, and an advanced Terrain Management System (TMS) that includes an exciting Baja mode for fast off-road driving. It also boasts a toughened reinforced chassis, powerful all-disc braking system and specially developed BF Goodrich tyres.

We at CMH Ford Hatfield are very excited to welcome our New Vehicles Sales Manager Mr Brannon Grobler. We took time to sit with Brannon to find out more about him. Here is what he had to say: Why did you choose a career in the motor Industry?

I know and believe that if I work hard enough, I will be able to make others as successful as I’d like to be one day. People are my passion

How long have you been in the Motor Industry?

I have been in the motor Industry for a total of 16 years. For 7 years I was a Sales Executive at various organisations, and for the past 5 years I have been a Sales Manager.

What is the one thing you love about your position as New Cars Manager?

Because of my passion for people, I always love to see people grow and do well. It is the most satisfactory feeling for me to see one of my team members do extremely well and achieve all their goals. I believe my job is not done until I help someone reach their full potential.

One fun fact about you is?

I absolutely love biking and I do it as often as I can. I belong to the Iron Skulls MC Club which also forms part of the South African biking club association. Lastly I am really excited and blessed to be a part of the CMH Ford Hatfield Team.

Thailand - Ford has unveiled its first performance-tuned Ranger Raptor at a world debut in Bangkok. The automaker made its global debut of the first Ranger Raptor bakkie at a world-class event on Wednesday (February 7 2019). More exciting is the fact that this bakkie will also be built locally at the Silverton factory in Pretoria. While the Ranger Raptor has been hugely-anticipated, and is most certainly a striking bakkie, South African motorists could be puzzled by the fact that it's is only available with a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel. However, the automaker is convinced the smaller engine is the best option for its new bakkie. Ford announced in September 2017 that its hugely popular Ranger bakkie will be available in an off-road performance variant for the first time. The purpose-built, desert-racing inspired bakkie joins the Ford Performance family, as the new ‘Ranger Raptor ‘ Ford SA says: "The Ranger Raptor will be coming to South Africa, with further information to be revealed in due course. There is no estimated time of arrival as yet. "Designed and engineered to deliver an adrenaline pumping experience, Ford Ranger Raptor sports a head-turning exterior look that exudes toughness as well as a level of capability and off-road performance never before seen in the mid-size bakkie segment. "Sharing the same nomenclature as the F-150 Raptor, the world’s most extreme production bakkie, Ranger Raptor is in a class of its own among mid-size off-road performance vehicles."

So what makes the Ranger Raptor distinctive?

In terms of styling, the Raptor features a new, huge grille, bumper, bold wheel arches and fenders with grey accents. Ford says there are new sheet moulding compound (SMC) front fenders which wrap around the 150mm wider stance from the track. It sports 2.3mm thick high-strength steel for underbody protection. At the rear there's a unique box side, redesigned bumper and tow-bar integration along with a functional aluminium die-cast side step. Inside, there are beautiful sculpted eats, upholstery and signature blue stitches in lightning blue. Ford reckons its cabin has been designed for comfort and confidence with the Ford Performance DNA running throughout its styling. The steering wheel has a red stripe on top of the wheel as a centre marker. It also has unique spokes, debossed graphic and magnesium paddle shifters.

Driving modes

The other aspect of the Raptor's speciality is its Terrain Management System (TMS) which has six various modes to choose from to suite any kind of driving surface, including one called Baja mode. Despite the Baja Dessert Race being highly acclaimed internationally, we reckon this could have been better suited as the Dakar mode for local buyers. But then again, that would be stepping on Toyota's toes with its Hilux. Ford reckons: "Each mode has been precisely calibrated to offer the best possible combination of technologies working in unison to tackle the chosen driving style with sangfroid." Each mode can be selected via a dedicated five-button switch located on the steering wheel.

On-road modes

1. 1. Normal mode: Emphasising comfort, fuel economy and driveability
   2. Sport mode: Responsive for spirited on-road driving. This means fast, crisp gear shifts at higher engine speeds to aid throttle response. The mapping reacts to increased demand inputs from the driver by holding gears longer and downshifting more aggressively.

Off-road modes

1. Grass/Gravel/Snow mode: Designed to inspire safe and confident driving on off-road slippery and uneven surfaces. This is done through smoother gear shifts and second-gear starts, minimizing the probability of wheel slip.
2. Mud/Sand mode: Vehicle responsiveness is tuned for optimum traction and momentum in deep, deformable surfaces like loose sand and mud. This is achieved by maintaining lower gears with high torque.
3. Rock mode: Used specifically for low-speed rocky terrain where smooth controllability is key.
4. Baja mode: Vehicle responsiveness is tuned for high-speed off-road performance, just like drivers need in the famous Baja Desert Rally. In this mode, vehicle systems like Traction Control are pared back in terms of intervention to allow spirited off-road driving without fighting the vehicle’s on-board systems. Gear selection is optimized for maximum performance, and the mapping will hold gears longer and downshift more aggressively.

October being BREAST CANCER AWARENESS month, CMH KEMPSTER FORD UMGENI hosted the CANSA Durban team at our dealership. A colourful sprayathon was the event for the day – and what fun it was! The staff, along with people passing by had come over to get in on the action. CMH KEMPSTER FORD is proud to have been a part of an initiative that enables research with regards to lowering cancer risk, educating the public on the symptoms and risk reductions as well as providing care and support to all people affected by various types of cancer. We are absolutely delighted to have hosted CANSA Durban and their wonderful volunteers. The Festive Season also known as the “Silly Season” is around the corner, and we at CMH Kempster Ford Hatfield are very excited, however we also have to take into account some of the not so great things that happen during this time of the year. CMH Kempster Ford Hatfield is on a true safety drive, as we would like to equip our customers with the necessary information to protect themselves during this time. On the 20th of October CMH Kempster Ford Hatfield hosted a Hijack prevention and security awareness course in partnership with the NHPA (National Hijack Prevention Association).

CMH Kempster Ford Hatfield customers were educated about how they can avoid a hijack situation, and other topics covered were:

• Definition of a hijack, when and where it all started.
• Objectives:
• To improve awareness, enabling you to pre-empt a possible attack & avoid it.
• How to get yourself, children, passengers safely out of the vehicle in the event of a hijacking.
• Motivation behind attacks / Different categories of hijacked vehicles.
• Factors that lead to attacks.
• Popular locations (top 12 locations) & current modus operandi used.
• Operational techniques of the static attacker. Vehicle to vehicle attack / being followed.
• Risks whilst driving at night & how best to overcome them.
• How to react during an attack, should you fall victim to the crime.
• Practical around a stationary vehicle:
• How to behave in a non-threatening manner & exit the vehicle safely.
• How to become a smaller target / protect vital points to increase your chances of survival.
• How to look after the safety of children / passengers.

• Smash & Grab Attacks
• Housebreaking & Dog Poisoning

First Ford Ranger Raptor Trial Units Produced in South Africa

The greatly anticipated Ford Ranger Raptor set to be released in the first half of 2019, has been undergoing trial builds and rigorous testing at the Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria. Building up towards full-scale production.

The Ford Ranger Raptor is part of the Ford Performance family and has been built from the ground up as a performance vehicle. This is not a kit to be added on or a modification that can be purchased, but a whole new vehicle and a first of its kind in this segment, setting a new benchmark.

PRETORIA, South Africa, 9 October 2018 – The dream of producing the highly anticipated Ford Ranger Raptor has come a step closer in becoming a production reality, with the first batch of trial units emerging from Ford’s Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria.

In preparation for full-scale production of this exhilarating all-new model, the Silverton Assembly Plant produced its first 10 official Ranger Raptor units as part of the Tooling Trials (TT) build-up phase, validating its high-tech assembly line which received an extensive upgrade through Ford’s R3-billion investment in its local operations, announced last year.

What a year that was at CMH Kempster Ford Pretoria North, each year we like to reflect on the year we had as a Dealership and this year has been no different.

Our year end function was held on the 16 November 2018 to celebrate our successes and appreciate the lessons.

This will mean as a dealer we had to thank our dealer Principal Mr Heine Venter for signing the cheque that had to make all of this possible.

We were at Hawaii (well not literally…) but our theme was Hawaii, it was nothing short of colour, Festive, Fun and celebration.

We celebrated achievements of colleagues who went the extra mile to make us the number one dealership in service delivery.

As much as there was joy, we were saddened as it was announcement that Tinus Van der Walt our Used cars manager will be leaving the dealership, we wish him well and nothing but the best on his new chapter.

We enjoyed delicious food, great conversations, good laughs and of course great music accompanied by some great moves.

Yearend functions are to rekindle friendships in the work place, lift spirits and to appreciate all the effort that the employees put in throughout the year as well as to unwind, relax and reflect.

Ford South Africa assisted by KEMPSTER FORD PRETORIA donated one Ford Transit Bus each to the Wesley Community Centre as well as to Nosa Early Learning Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s Centre. We had Ford South Africa’s representatives there to help with the hand over, it was a memorable and fun day for all involved. The smiles of the people who were there to represent the organisations were overwhelming, thank you to Johan Booysen our New Vehicle Sales Executive for taking the time to explain the specifications and user specifics of the busses to the organisations. He made sure the individuals were comfortable and ready to use these great vehicles. We believe we will keep the good relationship going further. Now we all know we live in a world where customer service is becoming key and a new marketing tool. To over-deliver service to a customer, is by far the most valuable thing to a business. Having said that, I would like to congratulate our Service Department, for delivering excellent customer service to one of our clients. They executed our core values and ethics to our customer as the Ford brand, to perfection. Mr. Dave Moran who recently brought his car in for service seems extremely happy and excited about the service he received from the service staff. He wrote an email to our dealership in which he had this to say:    Hi “I am writing this email to thank CMH Ford Umhlanga for their excellent service and friendly professional staff. We are a small business and our Ford Delivery vehicle is a key part of our service delivery. So having this vehicle off the road for any amount of time presents tremendous challenges to us. Technology is ever evolving, and we see it changing. How we do things these days? The motor industry is also embracing the change in technology which is why Ford is also continuing to improve the technology in their vehicles. The question is, are you tech savvy? Learn how to use your sync 3 with these easy steps:

1. Make sure your phone is turned on when you enter your Ford Vehicle
2. Go to your settings and switch on your Bluetooth
3. Your SYNC 3 screen has a button with settings. Press the settings button
4. Choose the Bluetooth and add your device to connect
5. Your device will start to scan the number of Bluetooth devices available nearby
6. Your FORD SYNC 3 should reflect as one of the devices available
7. Select it to continue
8. You will receive a pin on both your device and your SNYC 3. This pin should be the same on both devices allowing you to pair the two devices together.
9. You may receive a pop up message on your SYNC 3 system asking you “if you would like to make your phone a favourite on the SYNC system” – You can deny or accept
10. Press “finish” to complete the process.

With these easy steps you will be able to connect your device to the SYNC 3 system and enjoy easy driving pleasure.
