Limited-Edition Ranger Stormtrak confirmed for local introduction

In response to the remarkable success of the limited-edition Ford Ranger Thunder in 2020, Ford South Africa is introducing another unique and appealing model based on the upmarket Wildtrak - the Ranger Stormtrak - later this year.

“The Ranger Thunder was exceptionally well received when we launched it a year ago, proving unequivocally that there is strong demand for range-topping models that offer something different from the norm. The new Ranger Stormtrak follows the same recipe as the limited-edition Thunder, by elevating the style, sophistication and exclusivity of our most luxuriously appointed model in the Ranger line-up,” says Doreen Mashinini, General Manager for Marketing at Ford South Africa.

As with the Thunder edition, the Ranger Stormtrak is based on the Wildtrak derivative, bridging the gap between that and the Raptor variant. A mesh grille with red inserts along with a black insert in the lower bumper, black decals on the bonnet and doors, black roof rails, and gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels distinguish the new edition. Additionally, you'll find 'Stormtrak' logos on the lower front doors and the tailgate.

There are three exterior colours available for the Ranger Stormtrak: Sea Grey, Frozen White and Blue Lightning. However, the exclusive new colour, Lucid Red, is the one you'll want. Ford has added more than flashy aesthetics to the new edition of the F-150, as it also has some practical features, including a load bed divider kit, a bedliner and a Power Roller Shutter.

Ford's flagship 2,0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine produces 157 kW and 500 N.m. and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the Ranger Stormtrak features illuminated scuff plates, leather seats with the Stormtrak logo, and red contrast stitching, which appears on the dashboard, steering wheel, and gear lever. Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Collision Alert, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Alert, Parallel Park Assist and Sync3 infotainment system with built-in navigation and FordPass remote access are among the standard features.

The month of September has been one of a turnaround in the sense that Spring is now here, and the dealership is buzzing with excitement. Despite Covid still hanging around, we get up, dress up, and never give up!

Even though it was not entirely summer on 1st of September, we still celebrated this day with staff dressing up, having fun, and making the dealership feel like home. Our vehicles were parked on the sidewalk with gazebos and balloons all around. We listened to music, and this time, the atmosphere was incredible. Spring was in the air.

If there was ever a day when teamwork was evident, then this was it. The traditional clothing of all the cultures was wonderful. The atmosphere was awesome. We all came together as one. Unity was visual and people were having fun. Throughout the day, there was music, a braai, vehicles on display and balloons fluttering in the breeze. On top of all the fun, there were 3 deliveries, and the spirit was so great. To be a part of this awesome day in such words would be impossible, but what an awesome experience for everyone.

We are pleased to welcome Leon Barkhuizen as our New Car Sales Manager. Leon previously worked at Westvaal Menlyn. Formerly a Ford family member, he has already contributed to the team's success. With Leon's new ideas and changes, we are proud to have him onboard at CMH Ford Hatfield and believe he will take the team to new heights.

During the middle of the month, Channerie Lourens joined our new cars sales team. Channerie is originally from Westvaal at the sea and used to be a stock controller there. We hope that she will achieve great success at CMH Hatfield as she has already delivered her first vehicle.

Everyone is determined to keep their statuses and levels up as the Ford Academy training progresses. The assignments are due, the polls are done, and we are learning more and more every day. We are grateful to Ford Academy institute for the opportunity to enrich each employee of the company. As Spring arrived, we at Ford Umhlanga made the commitment to go green to put a positive impact on the environment. As a result, we decided that all employees across all departments would participate. Due to the pollution in the air, our surrounding area needed an Eco-Friendly boost to assist our environment, so we decided to give back to nature.

Researching what plant would be the best fit, we came across the Spekboom, a succulent plant native to South Africa. Among its many Spekboom facts is that it is indigenous to the province of the Eastern Cape and is revered as a miracle plant. Bright green, small-leaved plant found in Southern Africa looks ordinary, but don't be fooled - it is very special!

Below are a few of the many fascinating facts about this plant.

#1 Leaves are Edible

The taste of spekboom leaf is pleasant but changes throughout the day as the sun rises and sets. During the day leaves have an acid flavour and become less acidic towards the evening. The delicious greenery is heavily browsed by game and a firm favourite of several wild animals, especially elephants!

#2 Communities Use Spekboom Leaves for Their Medicinal Values

The leaves are used medicinally and in traditional home construction.

#3 It Helps to Fight Climate Change and Air Pollution

This plant helps to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by acting as a carbon sponge, improving the quality of the air we breathe. More specifically, spekboom can absorb between four and ten tonnes of carbon per hectare. This incredible tree uses carbon to make plant tissue and produce oxygen. According to The Spekboom Foundation, spekboom’s capacity to offset harmful carbon emissions is compared to that of moist, subtropical forests. This remarkable plant is unique in that it stores solar energy to perform photosynthesis at night. This makes a spekboom thicket 10 times more effective per hectare at carbon fixing than any tropical rainforest.”

Built in limited numbers to ensure exclusivity, the new Ranger Raptor Special Edition has several additional functional and styling enhancements.

The Ranger Raptor Special Edition is powered by Ford’s 157kW 2.0‑litre Bi-Turbo diesel engine developing 500Nm of torque, driving a responsive 10-speed automatic. As the world’s best-selling sports car, the iconic Ford Mustang range in South Africa will soon be bolstered by a very special and exclusive model – the Mach 1 Fastback coupé, which is the pinnacle of Mustang 5.0-litre V8 style and performance. The unrivalled exclusivity of the Mustang Mach 1 will be guaranteed, as only 90 units are available for the South African market.

Accordingly, the limited-edition Mustang Mach 1 becomes the most track-capable 5.0-litre Mustang yet, courtesy of a newly designed front end, plus Ford Performance parts derived from the Mustang Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500 models.

The performance of the specially calibrated 5.0-litre V8 engine matches that of the revered Mustang Bullitt, producing 338kW of power and 529Nm of torque. Mach 1 buyers that desire the most engaging driving experience can select the high-performance six-speed manual transmission derived from the Shelby GT350, or there’s the option of Ford’s high-tech 10-speed automatic. Both transmissions receive numerous performances, cooling and calibration enhancements that are specific to the Mach 1.
