The year 2020 was not a normal year for any of us, it has been very difficult to operate as normal due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

With that being said, our amazing New Vehicle Sales Team worked extremely hard and were rewarded with an unbelievable achievement. On the 22nd of April 2021, Ford Motor Company of South Africa held its Virtual Annual Awards function for the year 2020. This is a huge achievement in such difficult times, even when operating in such an unusual working environment the Team still met the criteria and standards for the Ford Motor Company. The most important part of it was ensuring every guest left the dealership satisfied and happy.

If we have ever been known as a resilient nation, the month of July 2021 has proven this statement to be true. With riots and looting going on all over but mainly affecting KZN and Gauteng we had to close some dealerships in KZN. However, we all bounced back very quickly and with the support of CMH we have picked up the pieces and strive to do even better in the coming months.

Amongst all of this, we were still able to celebrate 3 of our staff members birthdays, one being our DP Werner Van Zyl and the other two being Ryan Mckee - New Cars Sales Manager and Kyle Erasmus – Pre-owned Sales Executive. Although times were very difficult, we made these days special for them and decorated the office with balloons and handed over a gift to each one. Birthdays are special and need to be celebrated.

A very proud moment also took place during the month of July when CMH Ford Hatfield handed over the Ford Ranger Wildtrak to Rosh Schoeman who is the Director of Woodhill Residential Estate and Country Club. We are proud to be the sponsors of this vehicle to Rosh.

Steven joined us at the end of June, originally, he is a singer by profession but decided to take a leap of faith into the motor industry as a New Car Sales Executive and has fitted in like a hand in a glove.

Eugene joined us on 26 July and was originally in the SAPS Human resources division for 2 years. He then went over to Audi Arcadia in 2020 as a sales executive for pre-owned vehicles and has now joined our Team as a New Car Sales Executive.

Mpho is our new Intern and joined us on the 22nd of July, she is currently stationed in the Parts Division for training.

Minette joined us at the beginning of July as New Cars Fleet Sales Executive and has been in the motor industry since 2003. She has received numerous awards throughout her career, top seller for Kia, Sales manager of the month for 3 months consecutively just to name a few. She will be concentrating largely on helping us grow our Fleet division.

It has been an exciting past year with Ford and the Ranger family grew significantly in the past few months with the introduction of the Ranger Thunder (based on the WIldtrak) and the Ranger XL Sport. We recently had the opportunity to invite our clients once again to a 4×4 off-road training day held at Killarney 4x4 Trail. Our clients get to enjoy the day out with us and learn more about their 4×4 vehicles. The practical knowledge and exposure to suitable terrain and to learn more always proves to be a huge hit with our clients.

The day started with a drive through Shongweni Valley, the views and sounds of the mountains were incredible. We all met at the Killarney Trail at 08:00 am our instructor, Travis, started by introducing our customers to a basic 4×4 track day, he showed us the basics of 4×4 driving and the controls on how to recover the vehicle safely, should they get stuck. We then went up and down some steep hills and over a few challenging obstacles.

More 4×4 Challenges

The second part of the course involved the ’Slippery’ hill with the wet terrain it sure proved to be a test for our learning clients, which they all passed with flying colours. Our day progressed to the challenge on the two railings, where you must very carefully line up your wheels perfectly on the two rails and drive from one side to the other without sliding off. This proved very difficult, but all the customers managed to achieve this obstacle with absolute confidence.

After the exhilarating experience on the tracks, everybody came back on-site and had pre-packed picnic baskets as no braais / large gatherings are permissible due to COVID-19. Our clients had the pleasure of using the trail for the entire day and some clients were more than eager to go back out alone in the mountains. The aim of the day? For our clients to learn as much as they can about their vehicles and leaving the day with pride and confidence in their 4X4. We would highly recommend this to all that have 4×4 vehicles, this was such an adventurous and fun-filled day out with our family and loyal customers.

4. Appointed on a 12-month Fixed Contract, the interns, will gain work experience and an insight into the operation a Ford Dealership, working in all 4 departments, Workshop, Parts, Used Cars and New Cars.

The two interns named: Kwanele Masinga and Busane Mzila started with us on the 11th January 2021, both looking forward to this opportunity and experience, here is what they had to say about themselves: Kwanele Masinga, who is a graduate in Cost Management Accounting and has been working closely with Tradeway through who the YES4YOUTH PROGRAMME is co ordinated with Ford South Africa and CMH Kempster Ford Durban South. Busane Mzila says The YES programme, has already created a future vision for him as to how one should conduct themselves in the corporate world, in terms of being professional and being customer orientated.
