The Exclusive Ford Ranger Thunder

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Derived from the highly successful Ford Ranger Wildtrak, the addition of the exclusive Ford Ranger Thunder brings even greater style, luxury, capability and practicality to the range. Numerous distinctive design features are unique to the Ranger Thunder, starting with a revised honeycomb-style front grille incorporating red accents for the side “nostrils”, which gives this new derivative a distinctly performance-oriented demeanour inspired by Ford’s sportiest models.

Ford Ranger Thunder - Left Side

This is complemented by black detailing for the side mirror housings, and bold three-dimensional “Thunder” nomenclature at the base of the front doors and on the rear tailgate. The new 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels are finished in black which adds to the Ranger Thunder’s assertive and sporty character. Additionally, the integrated sports hoop fitted as standard on Wildtrak models now gains a striking red insert that adds further stylistic flair.

Ford Ranger Thunder - Seats

The Ranger Wildtrak is already renowned for its luxuriously appointed premium cabin, but the Thunder raises the bar even further. The extensive swathes of black leather that adorn the seats, dashboard, steering wheel, gear lever and handbrake shrouds now feature striking red contrast stitching in place of the orange used on the Wildtrak. New front leather seats have been fitted, featuring bold “Thunder” decals embroidered in red.

Ranger Thunder - Rear View

Aside from the visual enhancements, the Ranger Thunder benefits from numerous practical additions in the load compartment too, including a lockable “Mountain Top” black roller shutter to safely secure goods being carried. There’s also a cargo area management system with a bed divider that allows the owner to easily compartmentalise the available space for securely holding different-sized items.

Ford Ranger Thunder - Interior

The exclusive ford Ranger Thunder models are available in Sea Grey, Frozen White, Absolute Black and Moondust Silver. As with the Wildtrak and Ranger Raptor, the Thunder is powered by the 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo engine which produces 157kW and 500Nm, and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This combination, which benefits from the transmission’s Progressive Range Select (PRS) function by giving the driver the ability to lock out gears from the automatic shifting range, makes the Ranger Thunder ideal for towing or when driving in slippery conditions or climbing steep gradients. The Ranger’s exceptional towing capacity of up to 3 500kg remains unchanged in the Thunder, as do the 800mm water wading depth and 230mm ground clearance.

Ford’s Complimentary Holiday Vehicle Check

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

[ngg src="galleries" ids="8" display="pro_horizontal_filmstrip"]

CMH Kempster Ford Randburg is proud to offer a complimentary and comprehensive pre-holiday vehicle check-up to all its customers, to ensure this holiday period carries the confidence and trust that’s always been integral to Ford’s reputation.

Besides the roads being inundated with holidaymakers, the vehicles along these routes are often overloaded with luggage and equipment, which can place added strain on various engine, suspension and brake components. If these are not in optimal working condition, the consequences can range from temporary downtime and frustration to potentially life-threatening emergencies.

Regardless of whether you own a new Ford or an earlier model, the pre-holiday vehicle check-up has been adding value to South Africans for the last three years. Although this vehicle check-up has matured into a cornerstone of the Ford ownership experience, the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic means that there is now possibly an even stronger reason to pay attention to your car’s overall condition.

Travel restrictions during the initial phases of COVID-19 resulted in many vehicles being parked for extended periods of time. While that might seem beneficial to wear and tear items, a car that hasn’t been driven in a long time is likely to show signs of battery fatigue and tyre flat spots. It is also important to remember that service intervals are recommended every 15 000km or annually, whichever occurs first. Accordingly, although your vehicle’s mileage might be unusually low this year, it may still in fact be time for a scheduled service.

The entire process has been designed to be convenient and to take less than thirty minutes to complete – enough time for customers to enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee at the dealership and catch up on mails. At the end of the vehicle check-up, the customer will receive a detailed, obligation-free assessment, highlighting any area that needs attention. The includes assessing the following items:

  1. Fluids (Oil and Coolant) An under-the-bonnet check is first on the list. Fluid levels are one of the main concerns motorists need to be aware of. If your coolant and oil levels are low, your vehicle might have a leak somewhere.
  2. Lights You need to ensure that all your car’s lights are working correctly at all times – both so you can see and can be seen. This is a simple but important test.
  3. Wipers December is the rainy season in many parts of South Africa, so it’s important to make sure that your wipers are in perfect condition.
  4. Wheels and Tyres Tyres are perhaps the most important part of your vehicle, and with tyres not getting the normal mileage and rotation because of COVID-19, one needs to be extra vigilant.
  5. Brake Pads Another critical component to consider is brake pad wear. Once the pad wears down below its minimum thickness, Ford will advise that the pads need to be replaced so that the car’s best braking performance can be achieved. The handbrake should also be checked to see if it is working and adjusted correctly.
  6. Leaks The under-the-hood checks of the fluid levels will include a thorough examination for visible oil spots or coolant leaks that might be dripping onto the ground. Coolant can be identified by its shiny texture that looks similar to oil.
  7. Drive Belts While underneath the vehicle, a Ford technician will check the drive belt for any cracks. If the drive belt is damaged, worn, or breaks, it can cause a complete engine shutdown and damage.
  8. Spare Wheel A simple yet essential check that you can do yourself before tackling any long journey is checking to see if your spare tyre, the jack and spanner are all present in your vehicle and if they are in working order.
  9. Steering Some tests can only be done under driving conditions. Qualified technicians can pick up certain concerns that the everyday driver may miss, including engine sounds, vibrations and suspension issues.
  10. Brakes Another critical component to consider is brake pad wear. Once the pad wears down below its minimum thickness, Ford will advise that the pads need to be replaced so that the car’s best braking performance can be achieved. The handbrake should also be checked to see if it is working and adjusted correctly.

At CMH Kempster Ford Randburg you and your family are our number one priority. As such, we have been proudly offering these complimentary Pre-Holiday Checks to ensure your safety on the road for the last three years and will strive to continue to bring our customers value-added services for the foreseeable future.

CMH Kempster Ford Randburg Expands its Fleet Division

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

CMH Kempster Ford Randburg want the best for you and your business. Whether you have a fleet of 5 or 50 vehicles, lager or small business, we have a vehicle to suit your needs.

With South Africans still encouraged to take extra precaution to protect themselves against COVID-19 and avoid crowds this December, receiving products delivered to your door is not only a safer option but also a growing trend. Ford’s hard-working range of vehicles, including the Ford Transit Van and locally-built Ford Ranger have been providing reliable service for multiple fleets and businesses.

With the festive season just around the corner, Takealot is one of the leaders in the online retail space, and its vast logistics network has recently been strengthened by the addition of 20 units of the new Ford Transit Van extended long-wheelbase model which will be used to bridge the gap between warehouse and collection points. These vehicles will become an integral link in the supply chain in cities across the country, for a minimum period of three years.

With the addition of our very own dedicated Fleet Sales Executive, we at CMH Kempster Ford Randburg are looking forward to the wonderful year ahead in the Fleet Division.

Ford Transit Custom was recognised by AutoTrader as the most-driven vehicle in South Africa with a 2019 registration year. With an average mileage of 106 792km, it highlights the high expectations for reliability and low running costs, and how the Ford Transit series can exceed these.

CMH Kempster Ford Randburg

However, it’s not only companies like Takealot that choose Ford vehicles to assist with their daily fleet operations. One needn’t look too far and wide to spot a variety of fleet-operated Ford nameplates on our roads, covering enormous mileage at all hours of the day. Without these vehicles to depend on, many local businesses or fleets would not make it through the economic contraction, which has resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The versatile Ford Ranger with its exceptional payload capacity and ability to conquer the country’s most challenging terrain is widely acknowledged, but the recent AA-Kinsey report also shows why it’s a firm favourite for many fleet operators.

Fleet customers are always looking for vehicles with low running costs to minimise the impact on their annual budget. According to the 2020 AA-Kinsey Report, the 2.0 Single Turbo Ranger XLT was announced as having the lowest cost for replacement parts in the double cab segment. This same Ranger derivative claimed top honours in the 2019 WesBank Fuel Economy Tour, thereby broadening its ongoing value to fleet customers.

Similarly, the Ford Figo, currently used by Lancet laboratories, also performed exceptionally well in the AA-Kinsey Report with the 1.5 Trend recording the lowest parts basket percentage relative to its selling price in the city car sector.

CMH Kempster Ford Randburg

With these nameplates, Ford is committed to helping local fleet services, and businesses thrive, and this extra care was particularly evident during the government’s Alert Level 4 lockdown. Ford dealerships nationwide were able to resume the same quality vehicle service, while implementing new health and safety measures, to all those Ford vehicles involved in essential services.

Visit CMH Kempster Ford Randburg and decide for yourself why our vehicles are so sort after as reliable Fleet Vehicles.

We at CMH Ford Durban want you to enjoy your down-time to the maximum, and you can rely on us to get your vehicle in top shape for the festive season.

If you feel that your vehicle has recently been acting up, the best thing to do is contact our service department and one of our trained technicians will assist you and put all your concerns to rest. Before you set out on your journey here are a few things you should be mindful of:

Pre- Holiday Checklist:

  1. Leaks: It is wise to look out for leaks from various components and hoses underneath the vehicle. Always check coolant hoses for leaks, as well as the radiator and oil cooler.
  2. Check your spare wheel/tyres: It is Vital to see if your spare tyre, the jack, and spanner, are all present in your vehicle and if they are in working order. The last thing you want on holiday is to be stuck on the side of the road without an inflated tyre.
  3. Ensure your vehicle is properly aligned: Always be alert when you drive and take note if your steering pulls too much to the right or left direction. This may indicate a wheel alignment problem./
  4. Check your brake pads: This is a critical component of getting your car ready for the open road, if your brakes are not in PROPER working order it will impair your vehicles braking ability. It should always be more than 5mm thick.
  5. Light and wiper check: Make sure all your vehicles lights are in working order from reverse lights, brake lights to all indicators. It is important that your wiper blades are not squeaking or streaking your windscreen when driving in wet or misty weather conditions.

For Peace Of Mind come down to 901 Umgeni road and ask one of our qualified professionals to assist you with your pre-holiday vehicle check. Call us on 0313130800 to book your car in with our service advisors/technicians and we will gladly assist you so you can be prepared for your well-deserved break!
