CMH Ford Focus ST Sets The Pace At KZNRRC Race Weekend

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Even Durban - the city renowned for its year-round summer climate - has been feeling the winter chill more recently, with nightly temperatures regularly falling into single digits. And with the winter solstice only just behind us, we're not quite yet back to flip-flops and vests as our daily attire just yet. With that in mind, we wouldn't argue against weekend activities going no further than regular hot chocolate refills, accompanied by extended doses of Netflix and chill... However, if you are keen to get out of the house and hit the road on a relatively short road trip, there is an activity which has been setting the South Coast alight in recent years, and one which the whole family can enjoy. It's the car and bike motor racing held at Dezzi Raceway, Port Shepstone, organised by the Kwa-Zulu Natal Road Racing Club. It's been many, many years since KZN has enjoyed a safe and sanctioned space for motorcar and motorbike racing, with Westmead and Roy Hesketh circuits all but a distant memory of the 60s and 70s. And with racers (dangerously) taking to the road to employ their craft, Desmond Gutzeit - circuit owner and creator - came to the rescue of racers and fans alike with the opening of Dezzi Raceway in 2015. Set in the rolling hills of the South Coast and just 10 minutes' drive from Port Shepstone, the 2.5km track is a superb mix of tight, technical corners, blind rises and elevation changes - a challenging proposition for cars, and especially bikes - with quick directional changes a must for setting a good lap time.
Dezzi Raceway Track Layout And Overhead
Dezzi Raceway is a superb mix of tight, technical corners, blind rises and elevation changes
A relatively short main pit straight culminates in a tight left-hander offering late braking overtaking manoeuvres for those so inclined at turn 1. Exiting turn 1 into a gentle uphill run and you’re greeted by a tricky blind and off camber turn 2 which leads into sweeping and equally tricky turn 3 and 4 kink before a short blast to the turn 5 hairpin, accompanied by resplendent sea views if you have the time to take them in. Running down the hill now towards the sea is turn 6, a fast sweeping left, before getting hard on the brakes into the tight double apex turn 7. Heading back up the hill and past the dam on your right into turn 8, a technical left-hander setting up for hard acceleration around the sweeping exit before once again getting back on the brakes for the tight right-hand turn 9. With turn 9 done, it's back on the throttle now and up the hill towards the slow double apex turn 10 before the last, tight left-hand kink at turn 11 before entering the main pit straight where cars and bikes accelerate to achieve their top speed on the circuit. The action starts early on Saturday morning with a drivers briefing at 7:00 am. The format is simple; qualifying followed by 2 races - race one before lunch and race two after - with prize giving at the end of the days racing. For spectators, there is a class of racing to suit all tastes from four wheels to two.

With the new Rokkit Digital Agency/CMH Ford Focus ST pace car dutifully leading out all entrants on their customary warm-up lap, racers compete over course of 10 laps, with a variety of different classes filling up the day. In the top spec Porsche Challenge class race spec Porsche Cup cars with their spin-tingling boxer engine howls fight it out against the bellowing V8 powered Backdraft Racing Cobras. Just as exciting is the Modified Saloon and Super Modified class which sees forced induction Citi Golfs going head-to-head with naturally aspirated Audi A3s and the like. The noise is immense, the racing is tight and the action is packed. For two-wheeled lovers, the action starts with riders as young as ten and eleven competing in the 150/NSF class, with the Breakfast Class (600cc) and Formula X (1000cc) providing the most extreme entertainment on two wheels for spectators who have a variety of superb viewing platforms set up around the track, allowing fans to safely get as close to the action as possible. With the pit, and extended pit areas fully open, fans can also get as close to the race machines as they can to the track, with racers more than happy to chat about their machines as well as relive stories of their on-track exploits. Be sure to check out the remainder of this year's KZN Road Racing Club's events at Dezzi Raceway. Entry for spectators is R80 for adults, R50 for teens and pensioners, and free for children 12 years old and under, with tickets available at the gate. Refreshments and food stalls are available, with picnics also welcomed. Also, to take full advantage of the venue and the race action make you visit all the spectacular viewing decks situated around the track.

Available in 5.0-litre V8 (306kW/530Nm) or all-new 2.3 EcoBoost (233kW/430Nm) guise, it is the former V8 model which is sure to get pulses racing as it revives a long-time love affair for fans of the prancing pony badge. The Fiesta ST which has recently been bolstered by the addition of the Fiesta ST 200 continues to set the benchmark for bang-for-you-buck value for money. In ST 200 guise the little pocket-rocket produces 10% more power and 20% more torque from its 1.6-litre turbo engine. This endowers the ST 200 with impressive outputs of 147 kW and 290 Nm, allowing it to sprint to 100kph in just 6.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the standard model.

5 Tips To Keep Your Car Safe | CMH Ford Randburg

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

CMH Ford Randburg’s helpful tips to help you keep your car safe:  1: Lock your doors Keep your car safe The first thing no matter how obvious is ensure your doors are locked. When you get into your vehicles lock all doors and put on your seatbelt. Always remember “Safety First”. When you park your vehicle no matter how short of a time you are going to be away from it Always lock your doors. Locking your doors reducing theft by more than 50%. 2: Put away valuables Keep your car safe Always put your valuables in the boot. Laptop bags, handbags and any other items that draw the attention of someone to the inside of your vehicle. This is regardless of whether the vehicle is parked or not. 3: Parking in safe areas Park in areas that are well lit. Do not park in secluded areas as this attracts thieves to your vehicle. when you park your car in an area that has good lighting you greatly reduce the chances of your vehicle being broken into or getting stolen. If you have access to underground parking, rather park there than to park your car in the street. 4: Check your surroundings Keep your car safe Check your mirrors for any vehicles that may be following you. Be extremely vigilant when coming from the bank or the airport. Do not drive straight to your final destination. If you feel you are being followed rather drive to the police station nearest to you. 5: Reinforce your windows Keep your car safe It’s a good idea to get anti smash & grab tint film on your vehicle. This will ensure you are protected in the event that someone tries to smash your windows in. The film slows down the process of smashing the window in and the window will not shutter completely. 6: Install a tracker A tracker can help to recover your vehicle when it has been stolen. It’s a watchful eye over your vehicle. Most times your vehicle will be dumped somewhere for a few days. If no one comes for the thief will assume it doesn’t have a tracker and will come back to fetch it. The Difference Between A Service And Maintenance Plan | CMH Ford Pretoria North

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Ford Service When buying a vehicle, new or a pre-owned, the most important aspects to take into consideration is the service plan, maintenance plan and warranty of the car you intend to buy. Another important thing is the length of these plans and this will suit each individual accordingly. It is also important to know the differences, especially between a service and maintenance plan. Ford Service Service Plan A service plan gives you complete peace of mind and covers the cost of the routine servicing as stipulated in the manufacturer’s service schedule so you don’t have to worry about yearly cost increases as your servicing costs are fixed and provided for you. Your vehicle will be serviced at manufacturer’s approved dealer where genuine parts are used and trusted technicians. Generally, this plan will include the labour and replacement costs of the air-, pollen-, fuel filter, spark plugs, fluids, coolant, consumables, cambelt, V-belts, tensioners and drive pulleys, coolant hoses and sump plug gasket accordingly by the manufacturer's service schedule. Maintenance Plan A maintenance plan has more benefits than a service plan and will include typical wear and tear items like brake pads & linings, brake discs, wiper blades, batteries, clutch, rear wheel cylinder, fuses and globes, starter motor, alternator, suspension, window winder mechanisms, wheel bearings, CV joints etc. Basically, the maintenance covers items on your car that has a wear cycle and will need to be replaced at some point during the car’s lifespan so you can spend less time worrying about the costs of taking care and maintaining your vehicle which leaves you with more time enjoying the roads. Ultimately when buying a vehicle it is important to be informed and to make sure that any future risk will be taken care off. In today’s busy life, we all aspire for convenience and that is the benefit of these plans, to make your life easier. We all want to know that we will be taken care off in the future and know that you will not have any stressful experience when it comes to services makes for a good night’s sleep. Step By Step Guide To Changing A Tyre | CMH Ford Durban

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

We all know for most of you, a flat tyre can be your worst nightmare. A flat tyre can strike you at any moment, making that very moment an extremely stressful situation. You have to keep calm during this situation, if you panic it will make the situation a lot worse. Make sure you take precautions for your safety and well-being: • Always ensure your vehicle is firm on level ground, wheels are straight ahead • Switch the ignition off and apply park brake • Make sure all passengers are out of the vehicle   Below is a detailed step by step guide on what you need to get back on to the road. Make sure you do a FLAT TYRE CHECKLIST which would consist of the following : 1. Pumped up spare tyre 2. Jack 3. Wheel spanner 4. Triangle 5. Screwdriver Guideline to change the tyre: How To Change A Tyre 1: Move your vehicle to a flat spot, the vehicle in an angle will damage the axle, make sure there is no one in the vehicle. 2: Apply the triangle 45 Meters of your vehicle to make other motor vehicles aware. How To Change A Tyre 3: Remove the jack from the boot of the vehicle and place it in the right spot of the vehicle Start to crank the vehicle all the way until it touches the bottom of your vehicle, make sure you do not lift the vehicle off the ground at this point. How To Change A Tyre 4: Take your wheel spanner to loosen the nuts on the tyre , it works out much more easier to loosen the nuts while the wheel is touching the ground, turn each nut clockwise, loosen one nut as time but do not take the nut off completely , leave them on the vehicle with a few turns to remove it completely off. How To Change A Tyre 5: Use the jack to lift the side you need of the vehicle off the ground. How To Change A Tyre   6: Remove the nuts completely off the wheel and replace it with the spare tyre on the vehicle. How To Change A Tyre 7: Gently apply the nuts back onto the vehicle whilst it is still in the air, make sure the nuts are not tightened, just tight enough to hold the tyre in place and make sure it is stable. How To Change A Tyre   8: Lower the jack making your vehicle sit on the ground. How To Change A Tyre   9: Tighten your nuts on the tyre back to the way it was when you first removed it, ensure you do this in a clockwise direction as you done before, make sure you do each nut one at a time to ensure it is done correctly and tight.     Once all is done be sure to put everything away you have used and head onto your destination as planned. Be safe when travelling and always be prepared for any sticky situation and make sure you teach everyone in the household how to change a tyre in case of a serious emergency.

How Extras Affect The Trade-In Value | CMH Ford Pretoria North

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Ford Trade-In Value A new vehicle is way more than just a ride as it represents your lifestyle, personality and personal taste. There are several ways to personalise your vehicle to make it stand out, and make it uniquely “you”, which will make it fit you like a glove, and really meet your individual needs. Here’s what you should keep in mind when customising your vehicle: If reselling your vehicle, will a large group of buyers be interested in the “upgrade”? Remember that a potential buyer will only pay for what they need/want, so a good rule is not to overdo it. By keeping it relevant and simple you open up a larger pool of potential future buyers. Spend wisely when adding expensive equipment to a vehicle as it will not necessarily increase its value. Many vehicle owners think they will be able to get back the costs of after-market products they have installed at the time of resale, only to be disappointed when a potential buyer isn't willing to pay for the accessories or extras. You can never go wrong with factory fitted extras, as it will definitely add more value to your vehicle, and extras like rubberising and smash and grab will never count against you. Ford Trade-In Value Accessories like nudge bars, roll bars, and mags can enhance the general look of the vehicle, and should make the dealer/buyer more inclined to pay more for the vehicle. Personalising your vehicle to your own taste in the sense of special paint colour or personalized decals, lowered suspension, performance enhanced engines, and modified exhaust systems is a big no-no, as everybody hasn’t got the same personal taste. Before adding extras or accessories: Firstly consult with your dealer to check if any modification will void the warranty in any way (if your vehicle is still under warranty). Make sure that your insurance conditions remain intact or if any addendum is required when adding it to your current insurance. We at CMH Kempster Ford Pretoria North have a full range of genuine Ford parts as well as a wide range of Ford approved accessories and would love to help you customise your vehicle to add a bit more style and value.

Ford Wildlife Foundation Delivery By CMH Ford Umhlanga

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Ford Wildlife Foundation On the 17th May 2017 – The Ford Wildlife Foundation (FWF) handed over a new Ford Ranger bakkie to the Oceanographic Research Institute (ORI) to support the Institute’s Coral Reef Programme. The handover forms part of Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa’s (FMCSA) commitment to the conservation and preservation of the environment in Sub-Saharan Africa. South African coral reefs are marginal and unique, comprising a biodiversity hot-spot. For over 25 years, the Coral Reef Programme of the Oceanographic Research Institute has conducted intensive research on these fragile ecosystems aimed at their conservation and management. Coral reefs are under global threat from climate change and the Programme is currently focusing, in particular, on the resilience of the reefs to the effects of global warming. Ford Wildlife Foundation How Will The Ford Ranger Support the Coral Reef Programme? All field operations of the ORI Coral Reef Programme require diving at sea, deploying a diving team with surface support. ORI is well-equipped with a sea-going vessel and the SCUBA gear needed for the work, as well as laboratory and research infrastructure. However, safe transport is also required for a team of at least four people, in a vehicle with the capacity to launch and beach a boat. This requirement is now met with the addition of a Ford Ranger to the team. “The Ford Wildlife Foundation has added its support to this Programme by providing a Ford Ranger 4x4 vehicle for the demanding field activities needed to undertake this vital research. This will add to the safety and effectiveness of the team, helping them to complete their work in the field,” says Schleyer. The locally-built Ford Ranger, which is one of South Africa’s top-selling vehicles overall and in the light commercial segment, will be used to enable the project to go further and make a real impact – particularly in the remote locations often associated with conservation and environmental projects.

CMH Ford Focus ST, Now The Official KZNRRC Pace Car

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

CMH Ford Rokkit Digital Agency Pace Car KZNRRC Dezzi Raceway [ngg_images source="galleries" container_ids="5" display_type="photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails" override_thumbnail_settings="1" thumbnail_width="160" thumbnail_height="80" thumbnail_crop="1" images_per_page="20" number_of_columns="6" ajax_pagination="0" show_all_in_lightbox="0" use_imagebrowser_effect="0" show_slideshow_link="0" slideshow_link_text="[Show slideshow]" template="/usr/www/users/cmhfozjsmd/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/view/gallery.php" ngg_triggers_display="never" order_by="sortorder" order_direction="ASC" returns="included" maximum_entity_count="500"]  With KZN Road Racing Club events fast becoming a firm favourite, amongst both racers and race fans alike, and with the superb Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone now home to the KZNRRC, the next logical step in terms of increasing the safety and professionalism of race day events, was the ability to deploy a safety/pace car during key on-track moments such as during a caution period or inclement weather.

Introducing the 2017 KZN Road Racing Club Pace Car, proudly sponsored by CMH Ford and Rokkit Digital Agency.

The CMH Ford Focus ST is the perfect vehicle to tackle the demanding duties of an official race day safety car/pace car, as well as Rokkit Digital Agency  creators of KZNRRC's new digital home on the internet and whose COO Clinton Massey-Hicks, himself a keen motorcycle racer and KZNRRC regular entrant. As is customary, a safety/pace car is usually a modified high-performance version of a production car, and 'high-performance' is definitely a term which accurately describes the Ford Focus ST. Now in its third generation, the Focus ST (Sport Technologies) is based on the Ford Focus Hatchback, however, that is where the similarities end. Powered by a 184kW 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine, the Focus ST can demolish the 0-100kph sprint in 6.5 seconds, with a top speed of 248kph, more than enough to keep up with the motorcycles and race cars of the KZNRRC at Dezzi Raceway. Featuring a tight and technical layout, all that power and speed would be relatively useless at Dezzi Raceway, without race-spec suspension and braking systems, and fortunately, the Ford Focus ST has both. Designed for maximum grip in the corners the ST features enhanced Torque Vectoring Control which reacts to the road surface and balances the amount of power and braking delivered to each of the two front wheels to maximise grip and sharpen handling, ensuring precise and predictable handling. Uprated brake discs and callipers ensure eye-popping stopping power lap after lap. Backing up the sporty exterior is a similarly sporty, yet functional and beautiful crafted interior. Featuring purpose built technology designed to aid the sporty nature of the ST, such as an additional bank of three gauges – an ST hallmark – situated on the instrument binnacle and displays turbocharger boost pressure, oil temperature and oil pressure information, perfect for keeping an eye on engine performance during hard track driving. A new, flat-base sports steering wheel with a soft-feel leather-covered rim, a satin chrome-topped gear lever and ST pedals deliver the dynamic interior that ST drivers expect. Keeping driver and passenger firmly in place during hard cornering are race-inspired Recaro sport bucket seats.
