When buying a vehicle, new or a pre-owned, the most important aspects to take into consideration is the service plan, maintenance plan and warranty of the car you intend to buy. Another important thing is the length of these plans and this will suit each individual accordingly. It is also important to know the differences, especially between a service and maintenance plan.
Service Plan
A service plan gives you complete peace of mind and covers the cost of the routine servicing as stipulated in the manufacturer’s service schedule so you don’t have to worry about yearly cost increases as your servicing costs are fixed and provided for you. Your vehicle will be serviced at manufacturer’s approved dealer where genuine parts are used and trusted technicians. Generally, this plan will include the labour and replacement costs of the air-, pollen-, fuel filter, spark plugs, fluids, coolant, consumables, cambelt, V-belts, tensioners and drive pulleys, coolant hoses and sump plug gasket accordingly by the manufacturer's service schedule.
Maintenance Plan
A maintenance plan has more benefits than a service plan and will include typical wear and tear items like brake pads & linings, brake discs, wiper blades, batteries, clutch, rear wheel cylinder, fuses and globes, starter motor, alternator, suspension, window winder mechanisms, wheel bearings, CV joints etc. Basically, the maintenance covers items on your car that has a wear cycle and will need to be replaced at some point during the car’s lifespan so you can spend less time worrying about the costs of taking care and maintaining your vehicle which leaves you with more time enjoying the roads.
Ultimately when buying a vehicle it is important to be informed and to make sure that any future risk will be taken care off. In today’s busy life, we all aspire for convenience and that is the benefit of these plans, to make your life easier. We all want to know that we will be taken care off in the future and know that you will not have any stressful experience when it comes to services makes for a good night’s sleep.

1: Move your vehicle to a flat spot, the vehicle in an angle will damage the axle, make sure there is no one in the vehicle.
2: Apply the triangle 45 Meters of your vehicle to make other motor vehicles aware.
3: Remove the jack from the boot of the vehicle and place it in the right spot of the vehicle
Start to crank the vehicle all the way until it touches the bottom of your vehicle, make sure you do not lift the vehicle off the ground at this point.
4: Take your wheel spanner to loosen the nuts on the tyre , it works out much more easier to loosen the nuts while the wheel is touching the ground, turn each nut clockwise, loosen one nut as time but do not take the nut off completely , leave them on the vehicle with a few turns to remove it completely off.
5: Use the jack to lift the side you need of the vehicle off the ground.
6: Remove the nuts completely off the wheel and replace it with the spare tyre on the vehicle.
7: Gently apply the nuts back onto the vehicle whilst it is still in the air, make sure the nuts are not tightened, just tight enough to hold the tyre in place and make sure it is stable.
8: Lower the jack making your vehicle sit on the ground.
9: Tighten your nuts on the tyre back to the way it was when you first removed it, ensure you do this in a clockwise direction as you done before, make sure you do each nut one at a time to ensure it is done correctly and tight.
Once all is done be sure to put everything away you have used and head onto your destination as planned.
Be safe when travelling and always be prepared for any sticky situation and make sure you teach everyone in the household how to change a tyre in case of a serious emergency.
A new vehicle is way more than just a ride as it represents your lifestyle, personality and personal taste. There are several ways to personalise your vehicle to make it stand out, and make it uniquely “you”, which will make it fit you like a glove, and really meet your individual needs.
Here’s what you should keep in mind when customising your vehicle: If reselling your vehicle, will a large group of buyers be interested in the “upgrade”? Remember that a potential buyer will only pay for what they need/want, so a good rule is not to overdo it. By keeping it relevant and simple you open up a larger pool of potential future buyers.
Spend wisely when adding expensive equipment to a vehicle as it will not necessarily increase its value. Many vehicle owners think they will be able to get back the costs of after-market products they have installed at the time of resale, only to be disappointed when a potential buyer isn't willing to pay for the accessories or extras.
You can never go wrong with factory fitted extras, as it will definitely add more value to your vehicle, and extras like rubberising and smash and grab will never count against you.
Accessories like nudge bars, roll bars, and mags can enhance the general look of the vehicle, and should make the dealer/buyer more inclined to pay more for the vehicle.
Personalising your vehicle to your own taste in the sense of special paint colour or personalized decals, lowered suspension, performance enhanced engines, and modified exhaust systems is a big no-no, as everybody hasn’t got the same personal taste.
Before adding extras or accessories:
Firstly consult with your dealer to check if any modification will void the warranty in any way (if your vehicle is still under warranty).
Make sure that your insurance conditions remain intact or if any addendum is required when adding it to your current insurance.
We at CMH Kempster Ford Pretoria North have a full range of genuine Ford parts as well as a wide range of Ford approved accessories and would love to help you customise your vehicle to add a bit more style and value.

Few innovations provide a more wide-ranging performance and efficiency advantage than reducing weight. All factors of a vehicle's capabilities - acceleration, handling, braking, safety, efficiency - can improve through the use of advanced, lighter materials.
The all-new Ford GT features advanced lightweight composites, which will help serve Ford's entire product lineup moving forward. With the broad application of structural carbon fibre elements, the GT will exhibit one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production car.
Anchored by a carbon fibre passenger cell, the GT features aluminium front and rear subframes encapsulated in structural carbon fibre body panels. Carbon fibre is one of the world's strongest materials for its mass - enabling an ultra-stiff foundation for chassis components while creating a lighter overall package for increased dynamic performance and efficiency.
Aerodynamic efficiency is at the heart of the GT design, actively reducing drag while aiding downforce and stability.
From its optimum tear-drop shape to its aircraft-inspired fuselage and visibility-enhancing curved windshield, every slope and shape are designed to minimise drag and optimise downforce.
Although each surface on the GT is functionally crafted to manage airflow, it also features fully active aerodynamic components to improve braking, handling and stability.
An active rear spoiler is keyed to both speed and driver input, reactively deploying and adjusting its height and/or pitch angle depending on conditions.
While it shares a legacy with classic Ford racing and performance cars, the GT is a fully contemporary and functional shape that communicates modernity and pure beauty.
The state-of-the-art chassis is suspended by an active racing-style torsion bar and pushrod suspension, with adjustable ride height. The 20-inch wheels are shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires featuring a unique compound and structure designed specifically for the Ford GT. Multi-spoke wheels encircle carbon-ceramic brake discs at all four corners.
The narrow-profile canopy reduces frontal area and caps a purposeful interior that provides state-of-the-art technology to ensure control, comfort and safety. The two-seat cockpit is accessed by upward-swinging doors and features driver and passenger seats integrated directly into the carbon fibre passenger cell.
This configuration significantly reduces seating hardware and weight and provides a consistent and direct sensory connection to the chassis. The fixed seating is combined with adjustable pedals and steering column to accommodate a very wide range of driver statures.
An F1-style steering wheel integrates all necessary driver controls, creating a stalkless steering column that allows uncluttered access to the transmission paddle-shift controls. A fully digital and configurable instrument cluster provides a wealth of driver-focused data and is also configurable for multiple driving environments and different driving modes.
"While we hope enthusiasts rejoice about this all-new GT, all Ford customers will benefit from the ultimate performance Ford and its new-generation innovations," said Nair.

We at CMH Ford Pretoria had a fun and exciting April. Filled with a lot of hard work and events.
We had 2 mall events one in Quagga Centre in the first week of April, and one in the third week of April at Wonderpark mall.
Both of these events were a huge success with us receiving a lot of attention on the vehicles we had on display.
Our third event was at Munies Pretoria Municipality Recreational club on Easter weekend. Where we were supporting their sporting events. Along with showing 4 different classes of Ford vehicles. And we would like to thank Munies for the invitation to come and show our vehicles.
We would also like to thank Wonder Park Mall for inviting use to come and show a Ford Focus RS for the opening of the new The Fast and Furious film. It was a great experience for us as a dealer to showcase one of our top sports vehicles.
And lastly, we had some great specials for the end of April, after the Easter weekend.
We had a wonderful month as a dealer and would like to thank all our clients for making this possible.
The above-mentioned statement is ideal if you are doing all the work yourself, but when you go through CMH Kempster Ford Hatfield’s F&I team, rate comparisons are done for you, and the response time is much quicker.

We at CMH Kempster Ford Pretoria had an awesome January with a lot of sales done by The New vehicle department and Second-hand vehicle department.
We sold a total of 95 vehicles in January with new vehicles selling 53 vehicles and the Used department selling 42 in total.
We also had two displays set up one at Quagga Mall in Pretoria west and one at Wonderpark Mall.
These two displays offered a great experience for our team and client with us offering some insight into the performance and technology of the Ford Mustang and RS. We also thought it would be a great match to show off the New 2.2 Everest paired with the Ford Ranger 2.2 Xl Auto double cab.
All four of these vehicles received a lot of attention and kept our sales executives on their feet.
We will be back at Quagga Mall in the 6th of February and the 13th we will be back in Wonderpark mall.
We are looking forward to be seeing all of our loyal and supporting customers again.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I’m a people’s person, I love building relationships and bonding with people. I always put my clients first and they truly are very important to me. To recognise my clients, to bond with them, seeing them come back for their next service and staying loyal to our dealership, it really gives me that heart-warming feeling.
What is your mission and vision for our workshop here at CMH Ford Pretoria North?
My goal is to become a prime dealer. I really want this workshop to become the best and I want the staff members to be passionate, proud and ambitious about their work, and for us to really strive towards excellence.
Have you ever felt like you should just give up, or has anyone pressured you to try something else other than working in a traditionally male-dominated industry?
No, nobody ever told me to do something else. Everyone sometimes hesitates in life, but luckily I have my team and top technicians to assist me, each one of us has a role and a gap to fill and together we are one solid team. I also have my family who keeps on supporting me and most of them are in the motor industry so there is no chance of giving up!
How does it feel to be among only a handful of women in the industry?
It’s definitely a “WOW!” feeling. I think it’s fantastic that the head office of CMH actually promotes it. I believe we live in a world where times are changing and anyone can follow their dreams, it doesn’t matter who you are. I also worked for a female workshop manager, Jeanette, and I believe she is one of the best!
Have there been any times when you have been questioned or ignored in your job just because you are a woman?
Yes, I’ve experienced it before, but I won’t get offended in that kind of situations. I want my clients to be comfortable, happy, and for them to trust us, that is what service is all about at the end of the day.
What words of advice can you give to women-up-and-comers in the industry?
The women in the motor industry need to be “tough cookies”. If you look around in the dealerships you will notice that it is becoming more and more common to see woman working in this industry nowadays simply, because we can! Don’t ever give up, believe in yourself and don’t let anyone ever make you feel that you are not good enough.
Clients were given the opportunity to test drive the Black and Yellow 5.0 L Level 3 Roush Performance Mustangs and were queuing and waiting in anticipation for their turn. While waiting they enjoyed boerewors rolls and cold drinks. Children were enjoying the jumping castle and Performance face stamps. The Stig was around and boy did the kids enjoy the excitement of having a Famous Race Car driver there ;-).
We had a few antique Ford’s on display from the 1917 and 1971 such as the Model T Ford, Model A Ford, Ford Hotrod and Ford Thunderbird.
The lucky draw took place at 12:30 and our winner was Mr Brink. He was overwhelmed with excitement when receiving his Ford Tog bag with loads of goodies inside.
What an amazing and great event and day we had, we would like to thank Roush Performance who made the day possible, our loyal customers as well as Cars in the Park with their amazing display of antique Ford’s.
