A Great Christmas Surprise at CMH Ford Durban South

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

A great Christmas surprise Christmas has come early for a customer Mariana Dereksen from her husband Lee Dereksen. The planning took place two months prior to Christmas. We all had to keep the great secret, Mr. Lee Dereksen told us his wife works very hard and is under a lot of pressure at work, and deserves to be spoilt with a new car. Lee bought her the top of the range of the Focus. Lee had a personalized plate made, U C NOW KZN because that is a saying that she always says. We had to get flowers, chocolates, and rose petals to put around the vehicle in a heart shape. When the day arrived for her to fetch the vehicle, he had to tell her that he is going to fit a tow bar on her vehicle for them to go to Johannesburg. This was so cute when they had to pick up the new vehicle, told her to change her clothes, she asked why? Lee said he had to think quickly then said it is so hot outside, put something cooler on. He wants her to come with and see if she likes the tow bar. When they drove in her vehicle was in the front of the workshop, her first words were they didn’t even wash my vehicle, Lee then said to Mariana let us go in and ask why. As Mariana walked in the door she spotted the number plate and burst into tears, she couldn’t stop thanking Lee and the staff involved for such a lovely surprise. Her astonishment made the staff cry. Hugs were flying because they have become such good friends at our dealer ship. We have all gone through both her pregnancies and see how the boys are growing up so fast. Stacey sat in the vehicle with Mariana to show all the features and how the self-parking works. Such an awesome ending.

Ford Invests R2.5 Billion To Build New Everest At Silverton Plant

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Ford Everest Production Silverton

Ford to introduce five new Everest models to the local line-up for the first time, taking the total to eight models. Exciting new 2.2-litre TDCi versions will be offered in a choice of either manual or automatic in 4x2 or 4x4 specification, with the option of the mid-level XLS trim or the luxuriously appointed XLT.

The new Ford Ranger is by far the best-selling vehicle in the local Ford line-up, and apart from offering outstanding design and interior comfort, its ability to compete directly with the class-leading Toyota Hilux can be attributed to the wide variety of trim levels and engine variants, making it an attractive purchase to a wide variety of buyers.

From the entry-level 2.5-litre single cab to the top-of-the-range 3.2 Double Cab 4x4 Wildtrak automatic, there is a Ford Ranger to suit almost every bakkie buyer, allowing it to effectively be all things to all people. The Ford Everest up until now though has been an entirely different proposition. The Everest share close ties to its Ranger sibling, but unlike the 41 strong Ranger line-up, the Ford Everest is offered solely with the high output 3.2-litre, 5-cylinder turbodiesel engine. 4-wheel drive and 6-speed automatic gearbox are also standard in the two-model XLT and Limited trim levels. Priced at R 634900,00 and R 698900,00 for the XLT and Limited models, value for money (when comparing spec level) is, of course, high on the Everest's agenda. However, buyer options aren't and it is in this regard that the two-model only range loses out to the likes of the Toyota Fortuner which offers an attractive eight models for would-be buyers to choose from.

Eight Model Range

That is set to change, though, as Ford South Africa recently announced that Everest production will commence alongside the Ranger at Ford's Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria. Taking the fight directly to Toyota, the All-New Ford Everest range is set to increase from the current two models to eight including XLS, XLT and top-spec Limited variants. And like the popular Ranger will be offered with the popular 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine, with the option of 4x4 or 4x2, and manual or automatic gearboxes.

Looking Ahead To International Export Growth

“The start of local production for the Ford Everest is another major milestone for FMCSA’s Manufacturing division in implementing Ford’s Global Facility and Process Standards,” says Ockert Berry, VP Operations. We are confident that the locally produced Ford Everest will deliver outstanding results for us, our employees and, most importantly, our customers,” said Berry. With almost 2500 Rangers sold in South Africa and 6000 exported in September 2016, the inclusion of the Everest on the Silverton assembly line is no mean feat, representing a R2.5-billion investment, creating approximately 1 200 new jobs at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA), and within its supplier network, and will be exported to 148 markets in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. “The Ford Everest has been a very popular addition to our local line-up, but thus far has only been available in the two high-specification 4x4 models which were fully imported from Thailand,” says Tracey Delate, General Marketing Manager, FMCSA. “Local production has now enabled us to expand the offering with an additional six model derivatives, two engine choices, three trim levels, the option of manual and automatic transmissions, as well as two and four-wheel drive versions. “The addition of the 2.2 TDCi XLS and XLT models, in particular, will appeal to family and lifestyle buyers, offering exceptional value for money matched to an outstanding level of standard safety features, smart technologies and proven all-terrain capability,” Delate adds.

Well Known And Well Loved 2.2 TDCi Duratorq Engine Bolsters Everest Range

While the mighty 147kW 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine remains at the pinnacle of the range for this capable and versatile seven-seater SUV, the revised Everest line-up will be enhanced with the refined and economical 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine also found in the Ranger. It produces 118kW and 385Nm of torque and can be specified with a manual or automatic gearbox. Along with the existing 3.2 TDCi Automatic four-wheel drive derivatives – in XLT and Limited specification levels – a third 4x4 model is set to join the mix in the form of the 2.2 TDCi XLS, equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. Five all-new two-wheel drive Everest models will join the line-up for the first time. This includes a total of four 2.2 TDCi versions in a choice of either manual or automatic, as well as the option of the mid-level XLS trim or the luxuriously appointed XLT. Topping the 4x2 range is a new 3.2 TDCi XLT Automatic.

4×4 Day With CMH Ford Durban South

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

We recently had the opportunity to once again invite our clients to a 4x4 day help by CMH Ford. These are days where our clients get to enjoy the day out with us and learn more about their 4x4 vehicles. The practical knowledge and exposure to suitable terrain to learn more always proves to be a huge hit with our clients. The day started off with our instructor, Travis, introducing our customers to a basic 4x4 track day. Travis showed the customers the basics of  4x4 driving and the controls on how to recover the vehicle safely, should they get stuck. We then went up and down some steep hills and over a few challenging obstacles.

More 4x4 Challenges

The second part of the course involved the ’Slidey’ hill with it's wet terrain it sure proved to be a test for our learning clients, which they all passed with flying colours.  Our day progressed to the the challenge on the two railings, where you have to very carefully line up your wheels perfectly on the two rails and drive from one side to the other without sliding off. This proved very difficult, but all the customers managed to achieve this obstacle with absolute confidence. After the adrenalin but an exhilarating experience on the tracks, everybody came back to a warm welcome with fires going and meat on the braai’s. A great time was had by all, learning a lot and leaving the day with pride and confidence in their 4X4. We would highly recommend this to all that have 4x4 vehicles, this was such an adventurous and fun filled day out with our family and loyal customers.

A LETTER FROM A CLIENT:  DR CLIVE AND TRISH DANIELS

What and excellent day and experience, on a Sunday myself and my wife, put this down to the extremely professional day. Very relaxed, instruction from Travis our instructor for the day. No dramas and really good fun. But we also learnt a great deal and were amazed at the capability of the Ranger vehicle used and possible our capability as well. We would highly recommend this course. CMH Ford would like to thank all who were involved. We can't wait to see you all again soon. Happy adventures!

Fun in the sun with the Ford Ranger 2.2 at Wolwekloof 4×4 Club

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Fun in the sun with the Ford Ranger 2.2 at Wolwekloof 4x4 Club A couple of weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to join in on a fun filled day full of adrenalin and adventure with the 2016 Ford Ranger 2.2 range where we tackled the toughest of terrains to show everybody what the incredible 2.2 engine can handle! We started the day with a 4x4 course and we were accompanied by clients who purchased 4x4 vehicles from us who received vouchers to enjoy the day with us. A very vibrant, friendly and professional instructor from the Wolwekloof 4x4 Club, Micheal, taught us some interesting facts and what to do in different situations and how to keep calm and trust yourself and the vehicle when all you want to do is freak out! He ran us through a presentation and demonstrated some of the theories for us and after everything was explained and well understood he took us through the exciting and somewhat terrifying 4x4 course. Now this is where the fun and excitement truly began! He demonstrated and explained every obstacle and there after we followed, tackling it all by ourselves one by one. Oh and he made it look so easy, but it became a whole different story when you are the one who is about to take it on. Your hearts starts beating and the obstacle suddenly looks bigger and well… terrifying! Imagine this… You’re tackling a steep uphill and when you reach the top, all you can see is the blue skies! Now you have to totally obey and trust the instructor, turn whenever he says you need to turn the steering and then when the vehicle is in the right position, they tell you to leave everything (this was the strangest and most frightening feeling for me), trying not to use any of the pedals and off you go! I must say the Ford Ranger really made it easy with features like Hill Launch Assist, Traction Control, Hill Descent Control, Electronic Stability Control and with its locking rear differential. You will look and feel like a pro behind the wheel even if you are still an amateur! The Ranger made everything feel like a breeze! You will be surprised by what it can handle and by the power of the 2.2 engine, it is really impressive and truly remarkable. It has the looks (definitely one of the best looking bakkies in the market), with the quality and the looks of the interior you will even forget that you are sitting in a bakkie. It is comfortable, quite smooth and extremely safe with lots of features. The Ranger can definitely take you on unforgettable fun adventures.   Contact our sales team on 012 404 9200 to find out more about the Ford Ranger bakkies or to book your test drive and also like/follow our social media pages to see when the next 4x4 day will be or to be updated in everything that is happening in our dealership.

Family 4×4 Day With CMH Ford Durban

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

The Valley we drove through is known to us as The Valley of 1000 Hills. What an incredible experience and sights. The sounds and smells this stunning valley has to offer. We all met at the Assagay Hotel at 7 am, all left in convoy for the Valley of 1000 Hills. This was a spectacular drive through some of the most splendid scenery that KwaZulu Natal has to offer, as we followed the Dusi River to where it meets with the mighty Umgeni River. We stopped at the rapid called the Slide. We all parked our vehicles on the rocks. Pulled out the tables, set everything up, clients all had something to eat and drink while amazing photos were being taken.    We then drove through the Valley, with reasonably steep inclines and descents with some incredible river crossings where you put your arm out you could touch the water, some of the 8 river crossings were somewhat scary, but all had good laughs and taking photos of the front and back vehicle of them, Around 11.30 we stopped at the Mqeku site where we made hamburgers for lunch. Most of the clients swam including the children, where some relaxed under the trees on their deck chairs. Everyone had an awesome time. We all left at 1.30 in convoy again, all stopped at the Mfula store to support the locals, where we drove through the most amazing UMzinyathi water fall.

Client Feedback

Dear Matthew, Stacey and Anne I would just like to say a huge thank-you for the most amazing day Sunday. You have gone the extra mile as a vehicle franchise, and you really do pull out the stops for your customers. This is more than just great customer service. Kind Regards John and Tracy Wayne responded in agreement and said "I agree and the “BURGERS” were the cherry on the top, well done guys. GO FORD Regards. Wayne Foster

Revealed: The Next Generation Ford Fiesta

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

New Fiesta introduces a host of new technologies, efficient, powerful engines, four trim models including an all-new Active Crossover variant
Ford has revealed its next generation Fiesta - billed as the most technologically advanced small car - with a range of new innovative technologies such as pedestrian detection and active park assist and premium interior features like B&O Play sound system, SYNC 3 connectivity as well as high definition touchscreens. The big news, however, is that the new generation Fiesta will be offered in a range of body styles concluding an upmarket Vignale, racy Ford Performance inspired ST-Line, a stylish Titanium and for the first time a crossover variant, called Active Crossover - the first in a new line-up of Active vehicles to be rolled out across the Ford range in years to come. New Ford Fiesta “It's because we share our customers’ passion for Fiesta that we’ve been able to take this iconic small car’s lovable, fun and sporty-to-drive character to the next level, with a greater choice of models than ever and each with a distinctive personality,” said Jim Farley, executive vice president and president, Europe Middle East and Africa, Ford Motor Company. "We now have a Fiesta option for every driver, including the luxurious Fiesta Vignale and the Fiesta Active crossover, with advanced technologies and features that small-car customers could only have dreamed of just a few years ago." Powering the generation Fiesta is a duo of engines familiar to the current Fiesta range. Ford's award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is the single petrol option developing 102kW, and for the first time a higher output turbodiesel engine will be available. The 1.5-litre TDCi mill will develop 88kW - a 33kW gain over the current generation 1.5-litre engine - and when mated to the all-new six speed gearbox, Ford claims (both engines) will emit just 82g/km of CO2.

The World’s Most Technologically Advanced Small Car

Next generation Fiesta will introduce a range of smart technologies, pushing comfort, convenience and safety well beyond what is expected or even seen in a small car. Advanced driver assistance technologies are supported by two cameras, three radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors, which in combination are able to monitor 360 degrees around the vehicle, and scan the road ahead up to a distance of 130 metres – more than the length of a rugby field. Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, now with a wider camera angle, can detect people who are in or near the road ahead - using light from the Fiesta’s headlights at night - helping reduce the severity of a collision or in some conditions, avoiding a collision completely. Also offered for the first time on Fiesta is Ford’s Active Park Assist with Perpendicular Parking. This system helps drivers find suitable parking spaces and is able to park the car hands-free either nose-to-tail and side-by-side with other cars. The technology is also able to apply the brakes autonomously should the driver not respond to proximity sensor warnings. “For some drivers, our automated parking technologies deliver a ‘future shock’: they remain so advanced that customers using them for the very first time can be a little awe-struck,” said Darren Palmer, small car vehicle line director, Ford of Europe.  “Brake interventions for Active Park Assist can prevent distracted drivers from having low-speed parking bumps, and make parking in tight spaces even less stressful.” Unbelievably there are still more features fitted to the next generation Fiesta. Traffic Sign Recognition is able to monitor multiple speed limits which might apply to individual lanes of a motorway, for example, updating the in-car display as the driver changes lanes. Fiesta is the first car in its segment in Europe to offer Cross Traffic Alert, which warns drivers reversing out of a parking space of vehicles that may soon be crossing behind them. The feature is amongst 15 Fiesta driver assistance technologies in total, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Adjustable Speed Limiter, Auto High Beam, Blind Spot Information System, Distance Indication, Driver Alert, Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Keeping Alert and Forward Collision Warning.

SYNC 3 and B&O PLAY

With smartphones now acting as an extension of ourselves, next-gen Ford Fiesta is as connected as ever, offering Ford's SYNC 3 in conjunction with Band & Olufsen's PLAY system. In a shifting digital landscape, and with digital music streaming now well integrated into consumers lives, a CD player will now be offered as an optional extra, with Bluetooth connectivity and two USB ports taking centre stage as far as connectivity is concerned. New Ford Fiesta Ford’s SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system will enable Fiesta drivers to control audio, navigation and connected smartphones using simple, conversational voice commands such as “I need a coffee,” “I need petrol,” and “I need to park”. Drivers can locate nearby cafés, petrol stations or car parks, and find train stations, airports, and hotels simply using the sophisticated voice control. The system is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new B&O PLAY systems will ensure a step up for in-car audio, with ten speakers including a boot-mounted subwoofer, and featuring a total of 675 watts and powered by a digital signal amplifier with selectable surround sound. New Ford Fiesta

Evolutionary Exterior Design

Underlying the four Fiesta variants is an exterior that builds on the bold styling of the outgoing Fiesta. With a slightly less wedge shape than before, next-gen Fiesta is 71mm longer and 12mm wider than before. “Our customers’ ongoing overwhelmingly positive response to the dynamic design of today’s Fiesta is a significant factor in why Fiesta is still leading its segment even after 7 years,” said Joel Piaskowski, director, Design, Ford of Europe. “We evolved the design to make it more contemporary, yet not lose the ‘Fiesta-ness’ that the customers love. The next generation Fiesta is refined, yet much more sculpted with an equally emotional appeal. Fiesta’s exterior is visually simpler, allowing us to create stronger personalities within the expanded line-up, each with distinct fascias, grilles and details that will appeal to a much broader range of customers.” Each of the four Ford Fiesta variants delivers a unique design character which can be further personalised with individualisation options including contrasting roof and door mirror caps in black, white, Bohai Bay Mint or new Chrome Copper. Additional new exterior colours include Blue Wave, and for Fiesta Vignale, Milano Grigio. The Fiesta Vignale’s bespoke satin Vignale grille pattern, grille surround, foglamp surrounds, side spear and rear diffuser deco element add a luxurious appeal. Fiesta Titanium features a chrome bar execution for simplistic but upscale style. Vertical foglamps are connected by a smiling bumper feature line, making the model appear more optimistic and welcoming. Fiesta ST-Line’s simple mesh, Ford Performance-inspired grille is designed to be representative of the performance that sits behind it. The sports body styling is more angular and aggressive. A functional rear spoiler contributes to a surefooted stance. Fiesta Active is further differentiated by a raised suspension profile, with dark cladding flowing from the front bumper lip, through the wheel arches and side profile to the rear. A hexagonal grille design features along with a dark element for the liftgate licence plate area, contrast painted roof, and roof bars, all of which contribute to a more rugged, versatile feel.
