CMH Ford Umhlanga Gives Back To The Community

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

The Aryan Benevolent Home for the elderly in Chatsworth was recently broken into where robbers escaped with a vehicle belonging to the home, groceries, and an undisclosed amount of money that caters to children, the elderly, as well as the physically and mentally disabled. As Kempster Ford Umhlanga we decided to give a little bit back to the community, by offering assistance and showing support by donating food parcels to the home. Upon arrival the Staff of ABH was already waiting for us to receive the donation. One of the residents that the home feeds was also there to witness and accept the delivery from The Kempster Ford Team We would like to thank everyone else who donated to the home, but mostly we would like to thank the Kempster Ford Umhlanga Team for giving a helping hand.

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Over the past few weeks several Ford Kuga vehicles equipped with the 1.6l EcoBoost engine have caught alight. Ford’s investigation into a number of its Kuga vehicles bursting into flames on South Africa’s roads, it is not yet complete, but it believes that the fires may have been a result of engines overheating. If you have purchased your Ford Kuga 1.6I Ecoboost from our CMH Kempster Ford Umhlanga dealership, and have not brought it in for inspection, please urgently contact us to book your vehicle in for a one-hour maintenance check, free of charge. Ford Invests R2.5 Billion To Build New Everest At Silverton Plant

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Ford Everest Production Silverton

Ford to introduce five new Everest models to the local line-up for the first time, taking the total to eight models. Exciting new 2.2-litre TDCi versions will be offered in a choice of either manual or automatic in 4x2 or 4x4 specification, with the option of the mid-level XLS trim or the luxuriously appointed XLT.

The new Ford Ranger is by far the best-selling vehicle in the local Ford line-up, and apart from offering outstanding design and interior comfort, its ability to compete directly with the class-leading Toyota Hilux can be attributed to the wide variety of trim levels and engine variants, making it an attractive purchase to a wide variety of buyers.

From the entry-level 2.5-litre single cab to the top-of-the-range 3.2 Double Cab 4x4 Wildtrak automatic, there is a Ford Ranger to suit almost every bakkie buyer, allowing it to effectively be all things to all people. The Ford Everest up until now though has been an entirely different proposition. The Everest share close ties to its Ranger sibling, but unlike the 41 strong Ranger line-up, the Ford Everest is offered solely with the high output 3.2-litre, 5-cylinder turbodiesel engine. 4-wheel drive and 6-speed automatic gearbox are also standard in the two-model XLT and Limited trim levels. Priced at R 634900,00 and R 698900,00 for the XLT and Limited models, value for money (when comparing spec level) is, of course, high on the Everest's agenda. However, buyer options aren't and it is in this regard that the two-model only range loses out to the likes of the Toyota Fortuner which offers an attractive eight models for would-be buyers to choose from.

Eight Model Range

That is set to change, though, as Ford South Africa recently announced that Everest production will commence alongside the Ranger at Ford's Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria. Taking the fight directly to Toyota, the All-New Ford Everest range is set to increase from the current two models to eight including XLS, XLT and top-spec Limited variants. And like the popular Ranger will be offered with the popular 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine, with the option of 4x4 or 4x2, and manual or automatic gearboxes.

Looking Ahead To International Export Growth

“The start of local production for the Ford Everest is another major milestone for FMCSA’s Manufacturing division in implementing Ford’s Global Facility and Process Standards,” says Ockert Berry, VP Operations. We are confident that the locally produced Ford Everest will deliver outstanding results for us, our employees and, most importantly, our customers,” said Berry. With almost 2500 Rangers sold in South Africa and 6000 exported in September 2016, the inclusion of the Everest on the Silverton assembly line is no mean feat, representing a R2.5-billion investment, creating approximately 1 200 new jobs at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA), and within its supplier network, and will be exported to 148 markets in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. “The Ford Everest has been a very popular addition to our local line-up, but thus far has only been available in the two high-specification 4x4 models which were fully imported from Thailand,” says Tracey Delate, General Marketing Manager, FMCSA. “Local production has now enabled us to expand the offering with an additional six model derivatives, two engine choices, three trim levels, the option of manual and automatic transmissions, as well as two and four-wheel drive versions. “The addition of the 2.2 TDCi XLS and XLT models, in particular, will appeal to family and lifestyle buyers, offering exceptional value for money matched to an outstanding level of standard safety features, smart technologies and proven all-terrain capability,” Delate adds.

Well Known And Well Loved 2.2 TDCi Duratorq Engine Bolsters Everest Range

While the mighty 147kW 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine remains at the pinnacle of the range for this capable and versatile seven-seater SUV, the revised Everest line-up will be enhanced with the refined and economical 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine also found in the Ranger. It produces 118kW and 385Nm of torque and can be specified with a manual or automatic gearbox. Along with the existing 3.2 TDCi Automatic four-wheel drive derivatives – in XLT and Limited specification levels – a third 4x4 model is set to join the mix in the form of the 2.2 TDCi XLS, equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. Five all-new two-wheel drive Everest models will join the line-up for the first time. This includes a total of four 2.2 TDCi versions in a choice of either manual or automatic, as well as the option of the mid-level XLS trim or the luxuriously appointed XLT. Topping the 4x2 range is a new 3.2 TDCi XLT Automatic.

All-new Ford Figo destined to be compact car champion

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

figo-hatch-front-1 (1) The all-new Ford Figo, due in South Africa in the fourth quarter of 2015, is destined to be a compact car champion by offering unprecedented levels of style, feature-rich smart technologies and high levels of safety, while retaining the Figo’s established reputation for superb fuel efficiency and overall value. “The Ford Figo has been a remarkable success story in South Africa since it was launched in 2010,” says Tracey Delate, General Marketing Manager at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA). “From the outset the Figo’s strong price point, smart features and the option of fuel-efficient petrol and diesel engines made it one of the top contenders in the Sub-B segment. Last year the Figo held an average of 15-percent share of this segment. “The all-new Figo builds on that legacy by combining sophisticated contemporary styling, a whole new range of Ford’s trend-setting technologies such as Ford’s SYNC® integrated multimedia and connectivity system, as well as a modern and welcoming cabin that offers more space and improved safety,” Delate states. “The Figo will once again be extremely competitive in terms of overall value.” For the first time, the Figo will be available in two body styles, including the familiar five-door hatchback as well as a new four-door sedan. Although the full line-up will be confirmed closer to launch, the range will be broader compared to the current Figo due to the addition of more derivatives and specification levels (and the option of the hatch and sedan body styles). Both petrol and diesel models will be available, offering impressive fuel economy, power and torque. Customers will also have the choice of manual or automatic transmissions. The eye-catching styling is emphasized by the trapezoidal grille, complemented by a raked bonnet and bold, elongated headlamps. Sweeping, curved lines flowing from the front to the rear create a sense of movement. The five-door hatch incorporates a rising roofline with a sporty spoiler and neat tailgate accentuated by two distinct crease lines. The sedan version echoes the theme and adds improved loading capacity. The interior is also completely new, with an attractive design that provides high levels of comfort and space, complemented with impressive quality and attention to detail. Innovative smart features that will impress tech-savvy buyers include (depending on model) a new device-docking station that serves as the driver’s connection point to the world of mobility, Bluetooth with Voice Activation, the programmable MyKey® function, as well as electronic automatic temperature control. Safety is also a top priority, with a minimum of dual front airbags, extending to full-length side airbags. This is backed up by ABS brakes across the range, plus Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Hill Launch Assist on the top derivatives.

Sprints under 5 seconds with the all-new Mustang

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

ford_blog_1 Ford Motor Company today announced that the all-new Ford Mustang will deliver 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in under 5 seconds – making it the fastest accelerating high-volume Ford model ever offered in Europe. The company also revealed that more than 2,200 customers have ordered an all-new Ford Mustang since the iconic car became available to order across Europe earlier this year. The Ford Mustang – on sale in Europe for the first time in the car’s 50-year history – is available with Ford’s 5.0-litre V8 engine delivering 421 PS and 530 Nm of torque, or the more fuel-efficient 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine delivering 317 PS and 432 Nm of torque. The 5.0-litre V8 fastback model with six-speed manual transmission reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standing start in 4.8 seconds – faster than any Ford in the Europe since the low-volume Ford GT supercar launched in 2005. The Ford Mustang 2.3-litre EcoBoost fastback manual reaches the marker in 5.8 seconds. Ford Mustang drivers can optimise the car’s performance to suit their mood and driving conditions using Selectable Drive Modes, and away from the public highway can use Track Apps to monitor driving performance. Ford Mustang 5.0-litre V8 drivers also can achieve the fastest possible acceleration off the line on the track assisted by Launch Control technology. Mustang also delivers up to 0.97 g-force when cornering. “The new Ford Mustang will be wickedly fast off the line and throw you back in your seat with a thrilling engine soundtrack,” said Hermann Salenbauch, Mustang vehicle line director. “But Mustang isn’t just fast in a straight line. The ride and handling will be a revelation for European drivers.” Equipped with Ford’s 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine the new Ford Mustang also delivers up to 8.0 l/100 km (35.3 mpg) fuel efficiency and 179 g/km CO2 emissions.* Fun on road and track The all-new Ford Mustang’s high performance engines are supported by a standard Performance Pack in Europe that delivers uprated brakes and cooling for high-speed driving. A sophisticated chassis and body structure, and advanced technology, also help optimise driving dynamics to deliver the sporty experience Ford Mustang customers demand. Selectable Drive Modes are controlled using toggle switches in the centre console and adjust the AdvanceTrac electronic stability control, throttle response, automatic gear-shift patterns, and steering to match Normal, Sport+, Track or Snow/Wet settings. Selectable Effort Electric Power Assisted Steering enables drivers to choose a Normal, Comfort or Sport steering weight and feel. To help drivers get the most from the car at the track, the Ford Mustang also delivers Track Apps that can be controlled via the steering wheel and viewed in the instrument panel, including accelerometer, acceleration timer and brake performance, which measures braking time and distance from a set speed. Available for the 5.0-litre V8 with manual transmission, the Launch Control system holds the engine at a pre-set value between 3,000 rpm and 4,500 rpm with the accelerator fully depressed. When the clutch is released, torque delivery to the rear wheels is controlled for maximum traction and consistent standing starts. An electronic Line Lock system also available for the 5.0-litre V8 applies only the front brakes, allowing drivers to the warm the rear tyres. The Ford Mustang uses fully independent suspension front and rear for sporty dynamics and comfort, including integral-link rear suspension that optimises ride comfort and mechanical grip, and double-ball-joint front MacPherson struts that enable large, powerful brakes without affecting steering feel. The body structure is 28 per cent stiffer than the previous generation Mustang. Weight distribution of 54 per cent at the front for the 5.0-litre V8 and 53 per cent at the front for the 2.3‑litre EcoBoost contributes to responsive and precise handling. Lightweight materials include aluminium used for the bonnet, front wings, suspension, transmission and brakes. High-strength steels, laser welding and hydro-forming techniques contribute to the stiffer body for an enhanced driving experience and safety. Classic design and modern equipment The new Ford Mustang is available in fastback and convertible bodystyles with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, and features classic design elements including three-dimensional, tri-bar taillamps, signature trapezoidal grille and shark-bite front fascia. Ford has started production of the first European specification Ford Mustangs at its Flat Rock facility, Michigan, U.S., in 10 exterior colours and equipped as standard with 19-inch wheels, automatic HID headlamps, dual-zone climate control, LED tail lamps, and a rear diffuser. Further standard equipment includes a nine-speaker sound system, and SYNC 2 voice control connectivity with 8-inch colour touch screen. Ford Mustang is exclusively available to order in Europe at new FordStore locations opening across the region primarily in metropolitan areas. The first vehicles are set to reach dealerships continental Europe from July and the U.K. from October.

The stylish new Ford B-Max is coming

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

ford_blog_2 The new Ford B-MAX, which is scheduled for launch in South Africa in the third quarter of this year, features a unique design, superb fuel economy and unrivalled small car technology, making it among the most advanced compact cars on the market. “The Ford B-MAX really challenges traditional small car thinking,” says Tracey Delate, General Marketing Manager at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA). “Its ingenious design opens the doors – quite literally – to exciting new ideas about what's possible with a compact vehicle.” Based on Ford’s global B-car platform – shared with the highly successful new Fiesta – the B-MAX represents the company’s vision for a premium compact multi-activity vehicle (MAV), combining outstanding space and versatility within a smart and stylish exterior. The B-MAX’s Ford Easy Access Door System provides unobstructed entry and exit with hinged front doors and pillarless rear sliding doors, integrating the central body pillars into the doors rather than it being part of the bodyshell itself. When both front and rear doors are open there is outstanding access to the interior, with a huge, clear aperture of 1.5 metres wide, making it significantly easier to enter or exit the rear seats, attend to children in child seats, or load and unload shopping. The flexible seating system features 60/40 split rear seats that can be folded flat with a simple “one-hand, one-motion” mechanism. Ford engineers developed innovative solutions to ensure the B-MAX delivers the same outstanding levels of crash protection as vehicles with a more conventional structure. This exciting new model also achieves exceptional fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. Although the full line-up will only be revealed at launch, the range will include the 3 times “International Engine of the Year” 1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine. The innovative new B-MAX offers a wide range of Ford’s latest smart technologies, including SYNC®, Ford’s voice-activated in-car connectivity system. It is also equipped with Ford MyKey® functionality, an auto dimming rear view mirror and full length panoramic roof. B-MAX is true to the Ford fun-to-drive brand DNA with superlative driving dynamics featuring Torque Vectoring Control for superior traction and cornering. The car offers outstanding agility and manoeuvrability designed for the cut and thrust of city driving.
