The CMH Group hosted an incredible Winter Warmth Drive to help all those in need. Warm clothing and blankets were donated by the dealerships, staff members, clients and people in the community and distributed among the most deserving areas from KwaZulu-Natal to Gauteng.

The team at CMH Ford Gezina would like to thank each one that made the CMH Winter Warmth Drive possible and for every contribution. We donated the warm blankets and clothing to Rock of Hope in celebration of Youth Month in June and spent some time with the little ones.

The Rock Place of Safety was registered as an NPC when four places of safety got together to make a combined difference in the lives of babies and toddlers in crisis.

Mientjie and Wouter Prozesky answered God’s call to look after abandoned, abused, and traumatised babies, ranging in ages from newborn to two years old. They started Rock of Hope in April 2011, after receiving the prophetic word that said, “I see you in a minivan full of children, it is not your own children and I the Holy One will provide for you”. Their goal is to ensure a place of safety where they can be flooded with the love and attention any child deserves.

Motorists are worried about the rapid rise in fuel, which means adjustments to monthly expenses. CMH Ford Steyn’s wishes to take you through some tips that could help you save fuel in your vehicle.

Choose a fuel-efficient engine

Ford offers various engine derivatives, each of them offering class-leading fuel consumption, e.g., the Ranger fitted with the 2.0-litre single turbo which has returned a fuel index of 6,8lt/100km, and at CMH Steyn’s Ford we have an excellent sales team who are willing to assist you with all queries regarding the engine size, your trade-in and everything relating to a sale.

Weight is your enemy

Reducing the weight you carry on and in your bakkie will certainly improve its fuel consumption. Fifty kilograms less weight can improve fuel consumption by as much as 2%. If you are not using your roof rack, remove and store it.

Drive sensibly

Aggressive acceleration and braking can be fuel inefficient. Be gentle on the throttle and brakes and engage cruise control over longer distances.

Speed matters

It’s simple: the faster you go, the more fuel you’ll use. Up to around 80km/h, the energy required to overcome wind resistance on a vehicle is minimal. But push beyond that and the drag increases exponentially. Here is a valuable tip: If your vehicle has a real-time fuel economy reading, you can use it to get an idea of how much fuel you are using at different speeds, which will help you find your vehicle’s sweet spot. This could equate to being in top gear at the lowest possible revs.

Talking tyres

Check your tyre pressure regularly and stick to the OEM’s directions. Overinflation will reduce grip and result in more wear. Underinflation will increase rolling resistance, increasing fuel consumption. Aggressive tread patterns may well improve grip off-road, but they will also result in higher fuel consumption. A defective wheel alignment will also increase fuel consumption, so check it every 10 000 kilometres.

Time to tow

Higher speeds will increase wind resistance on both the tow vehicle as well as the towed load. Driving 10-15km/h slower than other traffic will save fuel without necessarily frustrating them.

Service is serious

Nothing beats optimum performance like regular servicing. “Fixing a faulty oxygen sensor can improve fuel efficiency by as much as 40%,” said Ford. “Similarly, using the wrong engine oil can affect fuel consumption by up to 2%.” At CMH Ford Steyn’s we have top qualified technicians, and our service advisors are well skilled and friendly. Hotter weather will probably dictate that you turn on your air conditioner, which will demand more power and thus more fuel. Using the air conditioner on short trips and in town can increase your fuel consumption by as much as 25%. “Remember, however, that driving with the windows down increases drag, which means your engine has to work harder. The effect is minimal at low speeds, but increases as speed climbs, so use the air con at highway speeds.

Cold weather tips

Starting a cold car and allowing it to idle with the heater switched on will burn unnecessary fuel. Starting and driving will improve the heater’s performance and reduce fuel usage. These tips will come in handy as we all attempt to save as much as we can. Savings go a long way, and these tips are sure to help.

Ford Umhlanga patiently awaits the arrival of the Next-Generation Ford Everest, which is Bold on the outside, a Sanctuary on the Inside and Engineered for Adventure with exceptional comfort and customer-focused technology in a rugged, refined and fun to drive SUV.

To highlight this, three grades of the next-gen Everest were presented at reveal: Sport, Titanium+ and a new flagship grade, Platinum. A range of different variants and models will be available, depending on market, to meet the needs of our customers.

Rugged outside, a sanctuary within

Everest’s wider track and longer wheelbase enabled designers to create a more progressive, muscular appearance. Ford’s global design DNA is reflected in the C-clamp headlamps and strong horizontal upper grille bar. The front end also has a mix of horizontal and vertical elements, which add to the stable appearance.

On the sides, there is a strong shoulder line front to back, while the wider track results in a more dramatic swell over the wheels, enhancing the strong and modern look.

One of the first things you will notice when you get into a new Everest is how quiet it is. We have all been in vehicles with multiple rows of seats, where you must twist your head around and almost shout to be heard by passengers in the second or third rows. New and proven engine line-up

While the new 3.0L turbodiesel V6 spearheads the line-up, next-gen Everest gives customers a choice of engines to suit their lifestyles, including Ford’s proven Single-Turbo and the Bi-Turbo 2.0 inline four-cylinder diesels and a 2.3L EcoBoost petrol engine. Depending on the model, either a six-speed automatic or Ford’s efficient 10-speed SelectShift automatic will be available.

Engineered for adventure

A 50mm increase in next-gen Everest’s track helps deliver a more controlled ride on-road, while tweaks to damper settings allowed the team to inject more fun and control into the Everest’s ride, both on- and off-road. Want to do some exploring? Next-gen Everest is ready to go, with a choice of two four-wheel drive systems, underbody protection and off-road selectable drive modes plus rear locking differential, two functional tow hooks upfront, and upfitter switches for accessories.

Next-gen Ford Everest has a water wading ability up to 800mm and a maximum braked trailer towing capability of up to 3,500kg (braked)vi, while space in the engine bay allows for a second battery to power aftermarket accessories. Everest’s impressive towing capability is supported by smart technologies that make towing easier.

The new integrated or stand-off roof rails are more than just a design detail; they are engineered for adventure. The Everest rooftop can now support static loads of up to 350kg and dynamic loads of up to 100kg. Confidence-inspiring driver assist technologies

A new far-side airbag positioned between the driver and front passenger provides additional protection in the event of a side impact. Depending on the variant and the market, the addition of the far-side airbag and dual knee airbags brings the number of airbags up to nine, including front driver and passenger, dual seat side thorax airbags and dual side curtain airbags which cover all three rows, depending on the variant and the market.

Next-gen Everest’s matrix LED head lamps, available on selected models by market, offer greater visibility thanks to a raft of clever features, including auto dynamic levelling and speed-dependent lighting that can adjust the intensity of the beam in front of the vehicle depending on the vehicle’s speed. The head lamps also offer both static and dynamic bending capability as well as glare-free high-beams, which help provide maximum visibility for the driver without dazzling other road users.

Added to Everest is Ford’s adaptive cruise control system, available in three versions depending on market and model.

1. Adaptive cruise control with stop and start allows drivers to maintain a pre-set speed and distance from the car ahead and will even bring the car to a complete stop if required.

1. Adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering can detect lane markings and help keep the vehicle centred in the lane.

2. Intelligent adaptive cruise control also adds speed sign recognition that can automatically adjust vehicle speed to the posted speed limit.

Additionally, enhanced driver assists and safety features available in the Next-Gen Everest include:

1. New: Lane-keeping system with road-edge detection, which helps keep the Everest from drifting from the carriageway on rural roads.

1. Update: Evasive steer assist, designed to operate at city and motorway speeds, which uses radar and a camera to detect slower-moving and stationary vehicles ahead and provides steering support to enable drivers to manoeuvre around a vehicle if a collision is imminent.

2. Added: Reverse brake assist helps drivers to reverse into parking spots and other tight spaces by providing audible and visual warnings. It can detect a vehicle crossing or a cyclist or pedestrian behind the vehicle too. The system can even bring the Everest to a complete stop if the driver does not react in time.

3. New – Blind spot information system with trailer coverage monitors blind spots around the vehicle and trailer and alerts the driver of any perceived hazards. The system supports trailers up to 2.4 metres wide and 10 metres long.

4. Enhanced – Pre-collision assist with intersection functionality, which can automatically apply the brakes to avoid or mitigate the effects of accidents if the driver is turning across the path of oncoming traffic and the system determines an imminent collision

Ford Ranger customers in South Africa now have access to an enhanced ownership experience with the introduction of FordPass Connect. This is on all new XL, XLS, XLT, Wildtrak and Ranger Raptor models from February 2021 production – as well as the newly launched Ranger FX4.

FordPass: connectivity at your fingertips

When used together, the key features of the FordPass app and FordPass Connect include command and control functionality, key vehicle information, online resources and links to emergency roadside assistance.

Vehicle Status and Remote Vehicle Monitoring: Through the FordPass app’s Vehicle Status feature, owners can check their vehicle’s key variables including fuel level and oil status, and tyre pressures (where the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System is fitted on the Wildtrak) and mileage through the convenience of their smartphone.

Any major issues will lower the value of the trade-in, but the dealer can perform the repairs for less than it would cost you.
• Gather all important documents. This includes Service records, Registration, and anything else a buyer might want to see. Cars that have been maintained with scheduled maintenance retain more of their value.
• Conduct your own inspection. Take your current car out for a test drive and pay close attention to anything that just doesn’t seem right. If there are any issues with the car, whether electrical or even a need for new tires, note them.

And lastly don’t forget to bring your spare set of keys or other accessories along with the vehicle.

The month of September has been one of a turnaround in the sense that Spring is now here, and the dealership is buzzing with excitement. Despite Covid still hanging around, we get up, dress up, and never give up!

Even though it was not entirely summer on 1st of September, we still celebrated this day with staff dressing up, having fun, and making the dealership feel like home. Our vehicles were parked on the sidewalk with gazebos and balloons all around. We listened to music, and this time, the atmosphere was incredible. Spring was in the air.

If there was ever a day when teamwork was evident, then this was it. The traditional clothing of all the cultures was wonderful. The atmosphere was awesome. We all came together as one. Unity was visual and people were having fun. Throughout the day, there was music, a braai, vehicles on display and balloons fluttering in the breeze. On top of all the fun, there were 3 deliveries, and the spirit was so great. To be a part of this awesome day in such words would be impossible, but what an awesome experience for everyone.

We are pleased to welcome Leon Barkhuizen as our New Car Sales Manager. Leon previously worked at Westvaal Menlyn. Formerly a Ford family member, he has already contributed to the team's success. With Leon's new ideas and changes, we are proud to have him onboard at CMH Ford Hatfield and believe he will take the team to new heights.

During the middle of the month, Channerie Lourens joined our new cars sales team. Channerie is originally from Westvaal at the sea and used to be a stock controller there. We hope that she will achieve great success at CMH Hatfield as she has already delivered her first vehicle.

Everyone is determined to keep their statuses and levels up as the Ford Academy training progresses. The assignments are due, the polls are done, and we are learning more and more every day. We are grateful to Ford Academy institute for the opportunity to enrich each employee of the company.
