The year 2020 was not a normal year for any of us, it has been very difficult to operate as normal due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

If we have ever been known as a resilient nation, the month of July 2021 has proven this statement to be true. With riots and looting going on all over but mainly affecting KZN and Gauteng we had to close some dealerships in KZN. However, we all bounced back very quickly and with the support of CMH we have picked up the pieces and strive to do even better in the coming months.

Amongst all of this, we were still able to celebrate 3 of our staff members birthdays, one being our DP Werner Van Zyl and the other two being Ryan Mckee - New Cars Sales Manager and Kyle Erasmus – Pre-owned Sales Executive. Although times were very difficult, we made these days special for them and decorated the office with balloons and handed over a gift to each one. Birthdays are special and need to be celebrated.

A very proud moment also took place during the month of July when CMH Ford Hatfield handed over the Ford Ranger Wildtrak to Rosh Schoeman who is the Director of Woodhill Residential Estate and Country Club. We are proud to be the sponsors of this vehicle to Rosh.

Steven joined us at the end of June, originally, he is a singer by profession but decided to take a leap of faith into the motor industry as a New Car Sales Executive and has fitted in like a hand in a glove.

Eugene joined us on 26 July and was originally in the SAPS Human resources division for 2 years. He then went over to Audi Arcadia in 2020 as a sales executive for pre-owned vehicles and has now joined our Team as a New Car Sales Executive.

Mpho is our new Intern and joined us on the 22nd of July, she is currently stationed in the Parts Division for training.

Minette joined us at the beginning of July as New Cars Fleet Sales Executive and has been in the motor industry since 2003. She has received numerous awards throughout her career, top seller for Kia, Sales manager of the month for 3 months consecutively just to name a few. She will be concentrating largely on helping us grow our Fleet division.

FordPass Connect makes life simpler and easier and, as Ford South Africa’s best-selling vehicle – which is locally produced at the Silverton Assembly Plant here in Pretoria (Talk about Home ground advantage) – it is the first to offer this innovative technology as standard. All Rangers equipped with FordPass Connect are fitted with an embedded modem at no additional cost that pairs with the FordPass smartphone app to unlock a range of new connected services.

FordPass: connectivity at your fingertips With the FordPass App, owners can check their vehicle’s key variables including fuel level and oil status, tyre pressures and mileage through the convenience of their smartphone.

Vehicle Health Alerts: The FordPass app capability extends to Vehicle Health Alerts, which can be sent directly to a smart device pre-empting service needs, general maintenance such as a low washer fluid alert, and more. The alert is designed to identify specific issues and even recommend a course of action.

Map and Search: Through the FordPass app, customers have access to an extensive range of search options, including Ford dealers, fuel stations, available parking, entertainment, coffee shops and travel destinations such as hotels and lodges.

Roadside Assistance: Throughout the FordPass app, customers have instant access to call Ford’s 24-hour emergency Roadside Assistance, which is valid for three years/unlimited distance, and is provided by the Automobile Association (AA).

Vehicle Support: The app provides extensive additional resources for customers, including how-to videos explaining features and technologies in the Ranger, digital Owner’s Manual, and an Alerts Guide addressing many issues such as water in fuel, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning, and numerous other warning messages.

A Warm welcome to Donovan Naidoo, our new Parts Manager. Donovan started his career at an aftermarket outlet in 1997. After 6 years of loyal service, he decided to join Ford in 2003 as a Parts Salesman. Thereafter achieving excellent results as a salesman, Donovan moved up the ladder again and became a Manager in 2014.

As the world’s best-selling sports car, the iconic Ford Mustang range in South Africa will soon be bolstered by a very special and exclusive model – the Mach 1 Fastback coupé, which is the pinnacle of Mustang 5.0-litre V8 style and performance. The unrivalled exclusivity of the Mustang Mach 1 will be guaranteed, as only 90 units are available for the South African market.

Accordingly, the limited-edition Mustang Mach 1 becomes the most track-capable 5.0-litre Mustang yet, courtesy of a newly designed front end, plus Ford Performance parts derived from the Mustang Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500 models.

The performance of the specially calibrated 5.0-litre V8 engine matches that of the revered Mustang Bullitt, producing 338kW of power and 529Nm of torque. Mach 1 buyers that desire the most engaging driving experience can select the high-performance six-speed manual transmission derived from the Shelby GT350, or there’s the option of Ford’s high-tech 10-speed automatic. Both transmissions receive numerous performances, cooling and calibration enhancements that are specific to the Mach 1.

Visually, the Mach 1 is easily identifiable as a truly special, track-focused machine – most notably by the bold Mach 1 grille that pays tribute to the original, along with extensive use of low-gloss Magnetic dark grey and black accents.

New 19-inch five-spoke Tarnished Dark-painted aluminium wheels are a modern interpretation of the classic Mach 1 Magnum 500 style wheels, fitted with 255/40R19 tyres in front and 275/40R19 versions at the rear, giving the Mach 1 a sportier, more aggressive demeanour and enhanced handling prowess.

To further improve ride and handling, the Mach 1 features the latest MagneRide adaptive suspension, new performance-oriented electric power steering calibration, stiffer sway bars and front springs, an upgraded brake booster, a rear subframe with stiffer bushings and a rear toe-link from the Shelby GT500. And, as expected of a track-focused Mustang, the available Drive Modes includes a Track mode and Track Apps with Launch Control.

All units destined for South Africa are painted in distinctive metallic Fighter Jet Grey with the Appearance Package as standard, which will make the Mach 1 instantly recognisable. Other distinctive elements include satin black bonnet and side stripes with orange accents and orange-painted brake callipers. Wow who would have thought that this year, we at CMH Ford Hatfield would be celebrating our 25th birthday. We are hosting a special day on the 12th of June, promoting 25 awesome vehicles at special prices. We hope to bring in a lot of new customers to the dealership, walking in as strangers and walking out as friends. We are driven to make sales but also give excellent service.

The showroom is well maintained, the cars are washed off every second day and are re-arranged weekly. Promotions are updated weekly as well, and our Gazebo and banners are always visible from outside.

What an awesome diverse month this has been in the Dealership. Firstly, we are proud to boast an outstanding achievement for Marissa Zeelie our New Cars F&I, who won the award for best overall F&I for the year. Outstanding achievement. We had a few nominations and runner ups in our branch as well-being Werner Van Zyl (DP), Tyrone Cotty (Used Car Sales Manager) and Ryan Mckee (New Car Sales Manager). We celebrated many events this month such as hosting the 25-year birthday celebration of our dealership, displaying 25 Used Car vehicles on a promotion. In the time of Covid, we are very restricted, so we followed protocol and our vehicles were parked outside in our parking bays for clients to come and view. Balloons and banners were the call of the day with our Gazebo nicely situated between all. Youth Day was our next celebration and we decided that even though Covid was active, we were going to host a small braai for the people working that day, we advertised on Facebook that we would be open until 1.00 for anybody who would like to come and pay a visit. Feet were few but spirits were high, and we kept the beat going. The famous Father’s Day, events at this stage are now very limited so we decided to do a great special on the New Ford Ranger with awesome prizes to be won. Posts went out on Facebook and a small braai was arranged on the floor, motivation and enthusiasm were very evident. And finally, it is month-end, it is Saturday, and the staff are ready to take up one last challenge, to convert the last couple of deals in the pipeline into sales. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in the Ford Ranger Aid Driver and Passenger Safety

When the Ford Ranger made its first public appearance at the 2010 Australian International Motor Show, it was more than just the eye-catching design and capability of the all-new pick-up that set it apart from the competition. It was the highly advanced levels of safety, security, and occupant protection.

During development, Ford engineers ran thousands of simulations to develop a strong enough vehicle to do the job and safe enough to protect occupants in a crash. In addition, Ford fitted the Ranger with comprehensive crash avoidance technology to prevent crashes from happening in the first place.

These Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) helped the Ranger to become the first pick-up in its class to achieve the maximum five-star European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) / Australian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP) rating in 2012.

Safety Evolution

Features like pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking (AEB), available in certain Ranger and Everest models, are designed to reduce the severity of, and in some cases can help prevent, a frontal collision, marking a step toward a smarter, safer future on the road.

AEB uses complementary camera and millimetre-wave radar to detect and identify potential risks on the road on Ford vehicles. While the radar detects obstacles that are farther away and moving fast, such as other vehicles, the camera can also recognise images, such as pedestrians. When the risk is detected, AEB alerts the driver with audible warning sounds and a flashing light. At the same time, the system prepares the brakes for rapid braking. If the driver reacts too slowly, the technology applies the brakes, potentially helping avoid the crash entirely or reduce the impact.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Like regular cruise control, you can set a speed you want the Ranger to maintain, but adaptive cruise control uses radar to maintain a safe and pre-set distance with the vehicle ahead of you.

Adjustable Speed Limiter

Driving on a long stretch of highway? Keep within the law and set the adjustable speed limiter to the legal limit of the motorway you are on. Once set, your Ranger will not go over the speed limit, even if you step on the throttle.

Parking Sensors with Rear View Camera

Ranger helps you reverse into tight spaces with the combination of rear parking sensors and rearview camera images that can be conveniently viewed on your SYNC infotainment screen.

Ranger uses a camera to scan the road ahead for lane markings to detect if your pick-up truck is drifting out of the lane. The feedback you’ll feel through the steering wheel will alert you when your Ranger drifts from the lane, and a steering aid will guide you back to the centre of the lane.

Semi-Auto Active Park Assist

Have trouble with parallel parking? No worries. With the press of a button, Ranger’s semi-auto active park assist can detect a parking spot big enough for your truck and automatically steers itself into place.

Driver Alert System Coffee Cup

Ranger monitors you’re driving behaviour and detects if you are showing any signs of fatigue. A forward-facing camera calculates your vigilance level based on the vehicle position within the lane. If Ranger detects you are becoming less and less vigilant, an audible chime and a coffee cup logo will appear in the instrument cluster, suggesting the driver take a break.

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with Vehicle and Pedestrian Detection

AEB can avoid a collision with a vehicle or pedestrian using advanced camera technology by pre-charging the brakes for increased braking power and response. Ranger can also automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision with a vehicle or pedestrian at speeds over 3.6km/h.
