A Beast in its own League – Mustang Mach 1

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

“Kick off 2021” just got an extra kick with the All-New Ford Mustang Mach 1. A beast in its own league. The New Ford Mustang Mach 1 leaves no room for humility, its loud heritage and innovative prowess is evident from a mile away. Equipped with a 5.0 litre V8 all-aluminium engine, 450 hp/ 343kw and a peak torque of 529Nm the Mach 1 is a beast unto its own and carries the technology to support it. Strapped with electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) software, the Mach 1 still takes the trophy over the most gruesome curves and bends; offering the precise steering of any Mustang to date. To emphasise this fact, the Mach 1 is suited with the MagneRide 2 adjustable suspension system which electronically controls the magnetorheological fluid inside the damper to respond in real time to changing road conditions. In the spirit of optimum performance and driving experience the Mach 1 offers a choice in transmissions options. The TREMEC 3160 six-speed manual transmission uses a twin-disc clutch to comfortably manage aggressive, high-rpm gear-changes on track, and provides a short-throw shift action for fast, consistent shifts that maximise performance and the fun-to-drive factor. The advanced Ford 10-speed automatic transmission includes an upgraded torque converter and unique calibration for Mustang Mach 1, optimising torque capability shift character and overall power and performance with half the effort. In true Mach 1 fashion, it doesn’t end there. The burly figured beast offers a distinctive, race- derived, aerodynamic look which has been the core component of its predecessors, but it's not all for show. This aerodynamic shape creates more downforce for an improved grip on the track, 22% more than the Mustang GT. The front and side grill provide improved cooling performance for such a hard-working machine. As a cherry on top, the Mach 1 provides a uniquely tuned Active Valve Performance Exhaust feature that helps you calibrate the sound of your exhaust, from quiet to Track, unleashing the full might and unmistakable sound of the Ford V8. Enquire now about the All-new Ford Mustang Mach 1, it’s a whole new league. Contact 0877248040 115 Flanders Drive, Mount Edgecombe . www.umhlangaford.co.za

MEET CMH KEMPSTER FORD PRETORIA THREE INTERNS FROM THE FORD YES4YOUTH PROGRAMME

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

CMH Kempster Ford Pretoria embarked on a journey in Ford Guest Experience (FGE) which is mainly a commitment we wanted to partake in delivering a sales and service experience that is distinctly Ford, and that all our guests love because every guest is special. So to help us carry this through and sustain it we had the honour to have three interns who will be embarking on this journey with us and “excitement” is an understatement to use to describe what the opportunity of having these three energetic interns made us feel! When we received the email from Ford introducing the three ladies whom we’d take under our wing to introduce and coach them about the real corporate we couldn’t be more delighted. The three interns named: Zenande Picane, Kate Mtileni and Lehlogonolo Mako started with us on the 11th January 2021 and here is what they had to say about themselves: Kate Mtileni is currently studying Public Relations through the University of South Africa and she has done marketing / promotions since 2014, she says she is passionate about make-up and is self thought. Kate started trading clothing as a side business (Mhhh I think we have a smart young lady over here) “At a time like this where a lot of our youth especially graduates are unemployed whilst our country’s unemployment rate continues to rise above the waves, one may say that it is with great honour to be one of the few candidates that was selected to be part of YES4Youth Programme with Ford”, Says Zenande Picane who is an artist by profession and she highlights that during this Coronavirus Pandemic, majority of artists are and were left stranded as their work has to do with the mass being in contact and that is where she was rescued by the YES4YOUTH PROGRAMME. Ms Picane says The YES programme has already created a future vision for her as to how one should conduct themselves in the corporate world in terms of being professional and being customer orientated. She further says as a young black woman, she is ready for the YES PROGRAMME to educate her in all aspects of the business! Last but not least, we have Lehlogonolo Mako who is studying towards a degree in Law through the University of South Africa but she says marketing and sales is definitely her hobby ( well isn’t she at the right place). Lehlogonolo says she is passionate about working with different people in different fields, she speaks on not going to limit herself and that she will strive to do her best and work hard with every opportunity coming her way. Lehlogonolo says she is learning how fast paced the industry is and all the challenges but she is willing to take it right ON! We are extremely delighted to have them and we hope to impart all the necessary skills to these three SO positive women. From all of us at CMH Kempster Ford Pretoria, We wish them a great year with us and a brighter future!

The New Limited-Edition Ranger Thunder

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

CMH Kempster Ford Randburg - Ford Ranger Thunder Front The New Limited-Edition Ranger Thunder will make you grab your raincoat and prepare for a storm because Ford has decided to expand their truck range with the all New Limited-Edition Ranger Thunder! But what makes this model unique from other Ranger models? Let’s compare the Thunder to Ford’s existing line-up to answer this question. Off the bat we know that this model is special because only limited stock of the New Limited-Edition Ranger Thunder is manufactured and available for purchase. Due to this limited availability, potential owners will have to jump at the chance to get their hands on this powerful vehicle!Let’s start off by comparing the performance of the Thunder, Wildtrak and Raptor models. Under the hood, all three vehicles have a 2.0L Bi-Turbo 4-Cylinder Diesel Engine and drive via a 10-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, the Thunder and the Wildtrak both have a fuel consumption of 7.8L/100km, while the Raptor uses 8.3L/100km. The Raptor emits 220g of CO2 per km, while the Wildtrak and Thunder both emit 207g of CO2 per km   The Raptor is known for its ultra-durable and larger frame, so it consumes slightly more fuel than the Wildtrak and Thunder models. CMH Kempster Ford Randburg - Ford Ranger Thunder Exterior The maximum power for all the models is 157Nm @ 3750rpm and all three of these vehicles have a maximum Torque of 500Nm @ 1500-2000rpm. The Thunder also showcases a 210-horsepower diesel engine like the Raptor model. Both the Raptor and the New Limited-Edition Ranger Thunder utilises 4-wheel drive as standard, while the Wildtrak also has a 4X2 option. All three vehicles come with a double cab configuration as standard. The double cab configuration offers more space for work and play. The only considerable difference is the size of the Raptor model. The Raptor is 4mm longer and 51mm wider than the Wildtrak model. The Raptor’s ground clearance also increased from the Wildtrak’s 230mm to 283mm. The Thunder’s ground clearance is between the Raptor and Wildtrak with a clearance of 237mm. Performance-wise it is clear that the Thunder slots in just above the Wildtrak and below the Raptor. So, what really makes the Thunder unique and worth consideration? Let’s look at the cosmetic and technological features of the Thunder. Even though it is based on the Wildtrak, the Thunder showcases some impressive standard features such as exclusive 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, bold red highlights on the exterior and 3-dimensional badges that accentuates the matte-black Thunder logos displayed on the exterior of the vehicle’s body. CMH Kempster Ford Randburg - Ford Ranger Thunder Interior While the Ford Ranger Wildtrak offers a leather-seat combination of leather and high-quality durable materials, the Thunder and the Raptor models have 100% leather seating. It is also evident that each model has a different interior colour scheme. The Wildtrak is known for its vibrant orange and black spacious seating with orange stitching, while the Raptor has sleek black, blue and grey body-contoured sport seats with suede inserts. The Thunder, on the other hand, has distinctive Ebony leather seats with Thunder embroidery and matching stitching in bold red. This stitching is also visible on the steering wheel, the cabin and the instrument panel. CMH Kempster Ford Randburg - Ford Ranger Thunder Transmission When it comes to technological features all three cars have Ford SYNC*3 with voice activation, 2X USB ports, 6 speakers, rear-view cameras, lane keeping aid, and 8” colour screens, just to name a few! However, the Thunder also has 2 X 4.2” TFT screens in cluster and navigation (Ford.co.za, 2020) The Thunder’s steering wheel also provides newly designed multi-functional buttons and rear floor storage that improves your overall driving experience. This impressive truck also has a forward collision warning system that allows the vehicle to brake on its own in case of an emergency. The Thunder definitely has some impressive and bold exterior and interior features, but does the price reflect the value of the vehicle? With an estimated cost of R800 000, the Thunder once again comes in between the Wildtrak (R753 600) and the Raptor (R875 000). CMH Kempster - Randburg Rear As previously stated, the performance and features of the Thunder puts it in between the Wildtrak and Raptor models, and its price reflects that nicely. With its exclusive features this limited-edition model is a great option for all Ranger lovers! The Ford Ranger Thunder was made to stand out with its dramatic colour-contrasting exterior and unique interior specifications. It delivers an assertive and bold design without compromising the powerful Thunder’s practicality. The Thunder is a limited-edition vehicle that you do not want to miss out on! But don’t take our word for it, go test drive one today!

Ford’s Heritage in South Africa

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Ford’s earliest traces in South Africa go back to 1905 when Port Elizabeth-based Arkell and Douglas were appointed as the first Ford agents in the country. Laying the foundation, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) was founded in 1923, and a year later Ford opened its assembly plant in a converted wool store in PE to assemble Model T cars from export kits shipped from Canada. By 1930, Ford opened a new purpose-built factory in the Friendly City. CMH-Kempster-Ford-Randburg-Sierra-XR8   Ingenuity and determination are two traits that South Africans have in abundance, especially when it comes to building bespoke vehicles that would eventually become revered the world over.   Undeterred, and with plenty of technical expertise to draw upon, South Africa went through a period of fascinating homologations that produced a dazzling array of road cars including the Capri Perana V8, the Sierra XR6 and the Sierra XR8, which performed exceptionally well on the sales charts, and even took the motorsport world by storm, leaving an indelible mark on the country’s motoring heritage. CMH-Kempster-Ford-Randburg-Capri-Perana-V8   The Bakkies That Helped Build a Nation Ford’s reputation for toughness was forged initially by vehicles like the Ford Cortina bakkie – exclusively sold in South Africa and a true embodiment of the country’s heritage. The Cortina bakkie was instrumental in building many of the landmarks that we see around us today, and helped fuel South African’s affinity with the venerable bakkie. CMH-Kempster-Randburg-Sierra-XR6     According to Grant, there might be no other vehicle that symbolises South African motoring more than the Ford Cortina bakkie. Eight prototypes were built at Ford’s Port Elizabeth plant until the Cortina bakkie was launched in 1971. CMH-Kempster-Randburg-MKIV-Cortina-Bakkie   It paved the way for another South African legend, the Bantam bakkie. This half-ton small utility vehicle with passenger car-derived handling and safety used the locally produced 1.3-litre Kent engine, as well as the UK-sourced Fiesta engine ancillaries. The RoCam engine which powered later generations was a key part of the Struandale Engine Plant story, with 1 346 919 units produced from 2000 to 2012.   CMH-Kempster-Ford-Randburg-Bantam-Bakkie Ford’s 96-year manufacturing heritage in South Africa would be incomplete without the internationally successful Ford Ranger, which has been assembled locally since 2011 and is exported to over 100 markets around the world.  Two totally unique versions of the Ranger have been added to FMCSA’s Heritage models – and have helped reaffirm Ford’s commitment to South Africa. Heritage Day in 2019 was shown in all its splendour by a one-of-a-kind Ford Ranger painted in the colours of the South African flag, and included its rich diversity of cultures, arts and wildlife by FMCSA’s own Paint Shop at the Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria. It took a team of five artists, three sprayers, and one assembler a total of 650 hours to produce, with the result reminding all South Africans how much the nation loves bakkies. CMH-Kempster-Ford-Randburg-2019-Heritage-Ranger   Unique South African artwork reappeared on a Ford Ranger this year – given the name Mandla by employees at Ford’s Silverton plant – for Mandela Day in July 2020. The South African flag features again with a portrait of the country’s iconic former statesman, Nelson Mandela, painted on the bonnet. As FMCSA closes in on a hundred years of local manufacturing, its esteemed local heritage becomes even more cherished by those who have worked on these defining motoring icons. Their positive attitude and competitive spirit continues to inspire the next chapter of Ford’s proudly South African heritage. CMH-Kempster-Ford-Randburg-2020-Mandla-Ranger CMH Kempster Ford Randburg is proud to be a part of Ford’s Heritage in South Africa with 51 Years as a Ford Dealer behind our name. The Exclusive Ford Ranger Thunder

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

Derived from the highly successful Ford Ranger Wildtrak, the addition of the exclusive Ford Ranger Thunder brings even greater style, luxury, capability and practicality to the range. Numerous distinctive design features are unique to the Ranger Thunder, starting with a revised honeycomb-style front grille incorporating red accents for the side “nostrils”, which gives this new derivative a distinctly performance-oriented demeanour inspired by Ford’s sportiest models.

Ford Ranger Thunder - Left Side

This is complemented by black detailing for the side mirror housings, and bold three-dimensional “Thunder” nomenclature at the base of the front doors and on the rear tailgate. The new 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels are finished in black which adds to the Ranger Thunder’s assertive and sporty character. Additionally, the integrated sports hoop fitted as standard on Wildtrak models now gains a striking red insert that adds further stylistic flair.

Ford Ranger Thunder - Seats

The Ranger Wildtrak is already renowned for its luxuriously appointed premium cabin, but the Thunder raises the bar even further. The extensive swathes of black leather that adorn the seats, dashboard, steering wheel, gear lever and handbrake shrouds now feature striking red contrast stitching in place of the orange used on the Wildtrak. New front leather seats have been fitted, featuring bold “Thunder” decals embroidered in red.

Ranger Thunder - Rear View

Aside from the visual enhancements, the Ranger Thunder benefits from numerous practical additions in the load compartment too, including a lockable “Mountain Top” black roller shutter to safely secure goods being carried. There’s also a cargo area management system with a bed divider that allows the owner to easily compartmentalise the available space for securely holding different-sized items.

Ford Ranger Thunder - Interior

The exclusive ford Ranger Thunder models are available in Sea Grey, Frozen White, Absolute Black and Moondust Silver. As with the Wildtrak and Ranger Raptor, the Thunder is powered by the 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo engine which produces 157kW and 500Nm, and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This combination, which benefits from the transmission’s Progressive Range Select (PRS) function by giving the driver the ability to lock out gears from the automatic shifting range, makes the Ranger Thunder ideal for towing or when driving in slippery conditions or climbing steep gradients. The Ranger’s exceptional towing capacity of up to 3 500kg remains unchanged in the Thunder, as do the 800mm water wading depth and 230mm ground clearance.

The same exclusive theme continues to the wheel and tyre choice, as the normal 16 inch silver alloy wheels are upgraded to 17 inch Panther gloss black cast alloy rims with larger diameter 265/65 R17 tyres. Also added are tubular sports bar in the rear load compartment, as well as a black rear bumper. Customers can also opt for the dealer-fitted black side steps that greatly improve access to the cabin – whether using the vehicle on a work site or loading up the family for a weekend of adventure. Connectivity and in-car entertainment are also taken up several notches, as the Ranger XL can now be ordered with Ford’s optional touchscreen infotainment system in place of the entry-level SYNC 1 unit with a four-inch LCD display.

All new Ford Rangers come standard with Ford Protect, comprising a four-year/120 000km comprehensive warranty, three-year/unlimited distance roadside assistance and five-year/unlimited km corrosion warranty. A six-year/90 000km service plan is included which covers six services. The recommended service interval is 15 000km or annually, whichever occurs first.

Ford’s Complimentary Holiday Vehicle Check

November 8, 2023 By Rokkit

[ngg src="galleries" ids="8" display="pro_horizontal_filmstrip"]

CMH Kempster Ford Randburg is proud to offer a complimentary and comprehensive pre-holiday vehicle check-up to all its customers, to ensure this holiday period carries the confidence and trust that’s always been integral to Ford’s reputation.

Besides the roads being inundated with holidaymakers, the vehicles along these routes are often overloaded with luggage and equipment, which can place added strain on various engine, suspension and brake components. If these are not in optimal working condition, the consequences can range from temporary downtime and frustration to potentially life-threatening emergencies.

Regardless of whether you own a new Ford or an earlier model, the pre-holiday vehicle check-up has been adding value to South Africans for the last three years. Although this vehicle check-up has matured into a cornerstone of the Ford ownership experience, the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic means that there is now possibly an even stronger reason to pay attention to your car’s overall condition.

Travel restrictions during the initial phases of COVID-19 resulted in many vehicles being parked for extended periods of time. While that might seem beneficial to wear and tear items, a car that hasn’t been driven in a long time is likely to show signs of battery fatigue and tyre flat spots. It is also important to remember that service intervals are recommended every 15 000km or annually, whichever occurs first. Accordingly, although your vehicle’s mileage might be unusually low this year, it may still in fact be time for a scheduled service.

The entire process has been designed to be convenient and to take less than thirty minutes to complete – enough time for customers to enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee at the dealership and catch up on mails. At the end of the vehicle check-up, the customer will receive a detailed, obligation-free assessment, highlighting any area that needs attention. The includes assessing the following items:

  1. Fluids (Oil and Coolant) An under-the-bonnet check is first on the list. Fluid levels are one of the main concerns motorists need to be aware of. If your coolant and oil levels are low, your vehicle might have a leak somewhere.
  2. Lights You need to ensure that all your car’s lights are working correctly at all times – both so you can see and can be seen. This is a simple but important test.
  3. Wipers December is the rainy season in many parts of South Africa, so it’s important to make sure that your wipers are in perfect condition.
  4. Wheels and Tyres Tyres are perhaps the most important part of your vehicle, and with tyres not getting the normal mileage and rotation because of COVID-19, one needs to be extra vigilant.
  5. Brake Pads Another critical component to consider is brake pad wear. Once the pad wears down below its minimum thickness, Ford will advise that the pads need to be replaced so that the car’s best braking performance can be achieved. The handbrake should also be checked to see if it is working and adjusted correctly.
  6. Leaks The under-the-hood checks of the fluid levels will include a thorough examination for visible oil spots or coolant leaks that might be dripping onto the ground. Coolant can be identified by its shiny texture that looks similar to oil.
  7. Drive Belts While underneath the vehicle, a Ford technician will check the drive belt for any cracks. If the drive belt is damaged, worn, or breaks, it can cause a complete engine shutdown and damage.
  8. Spare Wheel A simple yet essential check that you can do yourself before tackling any long journey is checking to see if your spare tyre, the jack and spanner are all present in your vehicle and if they are in working order.
  9. Steering Some tests can only be done under driving conditions. Qualified technicians can pick up certain concerns that the everyday driver may miss, including engine sounds, vibrations and suspension issues.
  10. Brakes Another critical component to consider is brake pad wear. Once the pad wears down below its minimum thickness, Ford will advise that the pads need to be replaced so that the car’s best braking performance can be achieved. The handbrake should also be checked to see if it is working and adjusted correctly.

At CMH Kempster Ford Randburg you and your family are our number one priority. As such, we have been proudly offering these complimentary Pre-Holiday Checks to ensure your safety on the road for the last three years and will strive to continue to bring our customers value-added services for the foreseeable future.
