You may have read or heard on the news that Ford has had serious problems with the Ford Kuga 1.6. Over the past few weeks several Ford Kuga vehicles equipped with the 1.6l EcoBoost engine have caught alight. Ford’s investigation into a number of its Kuga vehicles bursting into flames on South Africa’s roads, it is not yet complete, but it believes that the fires may have been a result of engines overheating. We at Kempster Ford Umhlanga decided to do a call in Campaign and inspected over 25 vehicles, during the inspection we found a few to be faulty without wasting any time we then advised the owners of the vehicles of what needs to be attended to immediately. If you have purchased your Ford Kuga 1.6I Ecoboost from our CMH Kempster Ford Umhlanga dealership, and have not brought it in for inspection, please urgently contact us to book your vehicle in for a one-hour maintenance check, free of charge. A great Christmas surprise Christmas has come early for a customer Mariana Dereksen from her husband Lee Dereksen. The planning took place two months prior to Christmas. We all had to keep the great secret, Mr. Lee Dereksen told us his wife works very hard and is under a lot of pressure at work, and deserves to be spoilt with a new car. Lee bought her the top of the range of the Focus. Lee had a personalized plate made, U C NOW KZN because that is a saying that she always says. We had to get flowers, chocolates, and rose petals to put around the vehicle in a heart shape. When the day arrived for her to fetch the vehicle, he had to tell her that he is going to fit a tow bar on her vehicle for them to go to Johannesburg. This was so cute when they had to pick up the new vehicle, told her to change her clothes, she asked why? Lee said he had to think quickly then said it is so hot outside, put something cooler on. He wants her to come with and see if she likes the tow bar. When they drove in her vehicle was in the front of the workshop, her first words were they didn’t even wash my vehicle, Lee then said to Mariana let us go in and ask why. As Mariana walked in the door she spotted the number plate and burst into tears, she couldn’t stop thanking Lee and the staff involved for such a lovely surprise. Her astonishment made the staff cry. Hugs were flying because they have become such good friends at our dealer ship. We have all gone through both her pregnancies and see how the boys are growing up so fast. Stacey sat in the vehicle with Mariana to show all the features and how the self-parking works. Such an awesome ending.

This has been an exciting week at CMH Ford Randburg. Lebo, one of our amazing sales executives, has delivered CMH Ford Randburg's first Ford Mustang. The new owner of the Mustang seen below had ordered the vehicle in December and was put on a very long waiting list. You can imagine why, the new Ford Mustang still is rooted in its iconic look but is designed to look better. This new vehicle remains instantly classic. The all-new Ford Figo, due in South Africa in the fourth quarter of 2015, is destined to be a compact car champion by offering unprecedented levels of style, feature-rich smart technologies and high levels of safety, while retaining the Figo’s established reputation for superb fuel efficiency and overall value. “The Ford Figo has been a remarkable success story in South Africa since it was launched in 2010,” says Tracey Delate, General Marketing Manager at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA). “From the outset the Figo’s strong price point, smart features and the option of fuel-efficient petrol and diesel engines made it one of the top contenders in the Sub-B segment. Last year the Figo held an average of 15-percent share of this segment. “The all-new Figo builds on that legacy by combining sophisticated contemporary styling, a whole new range of Ford’s trend-setting technologies such as Ford’s SYNC® integrated multimedia and connectivity system, as well as a modern and welcoming cabin that offers more space and improved safety,” Delate states. “The Figo will once again be extremely competitive in terms of overall value.” For the first time, the Figo will be available in two body styles, including the familiar five-door hatchback as well as a new four-door sedan. Although the full line-up will be confirmed closer to launch, the range will be broader compared to the current Figo due to the addition of more derivatives and specification levels (and the option of the hatch and sedan body styles). Both petrol and diesel models will be available, offering impressive fuel economy, power and torque. Customers will also have the choice of manual or automatic transmissions. The eye-catching styling is emphasized by the trapezoidal grille, complemented by a raked bonnet and bold, elongated headlamps. Sweeping, curved lines flowing from the front to the rear create a sense of movement. The five-door hatch incorporates a rising roofline with a sporty spoiler and neat tailgate accentuated by two distinct crease lines. The sedan version echoes the theme and adds improved loading capacity. The interior is also completely new, with an attractive design that provides high levels of comfort and space, complemented with impressive quality and attention to detail. Innovative smart features that will impress tech-savvy buyers include (depending on model) a new device-docking station that serves as the driver’s connection point to the world of mobility, Bluetooth with Voice Activation, the programmable MyKey® function, as well as electronic automatic temperature control. Safety is also a top priority, with a minimum of dual front airbags, extending to full-length side airbags. This is backed up by ABS brakes across the range, plus Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Hill Launch Assist on the top derivatives.
